Thank You for a Successful Start
August 23, 2024
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Families,
The 2024-2025 School Year kicked off in fine fashion earlier this week, with the return of students in grades 1st through 12th on Tuesday, August 20th and our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, who by the way… will be our Avon Lake Class of 2037, on Thursday, August 22nd. What a special joy it will always be to welcome back students to our school district, to meaningfully launch another significant step in each child’s educational journey. The principals, teachers, staff members, aides, support team, and district administrators were eager to greet our students, and are excited for another school year. Thank you to our families for all the preparation required to make the first week of school successful.
Issue Numbers Assigned to November 2024 Ballot Measures
The Avon Lake City Schools' ballot measures for this November’s election have been assigned by the Lorain County Board of Elections. Issue 15 will be our bond issue to build a new PreK-5 Elementary School at the Troy site, a new K-5 Elementary School at the Eastview site, a new grade 6 – 8 Middle School at the Learwood site, and renovate the High School. Issue 16 will be the district’s operating levy, that will generate $5 million/year for the next 10 years for necessary operating expenses. The Avon Lake City Schools has pinned important bond and levy information on the home page of the district website, which will be routinely updated with facts about both issues, the county reappraisals, and more. You can find that page here, or by visiting the home page.
New Coffee Talks Scheduled for this Fall!
The success of the Coffee Talks, and the interest generated by citizens who came to discuss important topics with the administrative team prompts a new round of similar gatherings to take place over the next several weeks. See the below graphic, mark your calendars, and please plan to attend.
State of the Schools Presentation on Thursday, October 3rd
A State of the Schools presentation will take place on Thursday, October 3rd at Avon Lake High School Commons at 6:30 p.m. Here, the community will have the chance to learn more about our newly adopted Strategic Plan, the principles to which we are dedicated as a district, and other important matters. The community can now view the recently Board approved Strategic Plan on the district website. Mark your calendars and please plan to take advantage of the accessibility and transparency of your Avon Lake City Schools.
It's awesome, once again, to have our children back in the classroom. Together, we’re going to make this a safe and successful school year, sailing on to being an ALite school district.
Have a great weekend!
