CTHS NEWS
April 14, 2024
Good Evening CTHS Families
Students and staff are enjoying many activities over the next few weeks at Tech. Last week, Student Government put on a talent show. Students participated in acts ranging from music to monologues to comedy. The wide range of talents exhibited as well as the support for each other was palpable. The Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) participated in their state conference and we look forward to sharing their success with you next week.
As we approach the end of the academic year, I want to remind everyone of some important upcoming events and initiatives:
- 9th Grade Students AK STAR State Testing: Monday, April 15th, is the last day of state testing. Students should plan to leave backpacks and cell phones in lockers until testing is completed. These tests measure individual performance and help our school understand areas where we excel and where we need improvement. So, please ensure you are prepared, charge your Chromebook, and give your best effort. Students who are participating in state testing do not need to interview dress.
- 11th Grade Interview Day: Monday, April 15th, is Interview Day for our junior class. For those of you who are preparing to transition to higher education or the workforce, our Interview Day is a great opportunity to hone your interview skills. This event will provide you with valuable experience and feedback that will benefit your future endeavors. Dress professionally and come prepared to showcase your skills and accomplishments. Make sure to bring an updated resume!
- Safety Week: Next week is Safety Week in our school district. Presentations will occur during 4Cs Wednesday through Friday. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will have demonstrations about the importance of safety gear and OSHA standards led by volunteers from the community. Friday, author and bear attack survivor Dan Bigley will speak about his recovery and the importance of bear safety.
Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to another great week at CTHS.

Geo Airlines Geography Night - 04/22
Student Advisory Board would like to extend an invitation to all kids and their families to attend Geo Airlines on the evening of April 22nd from 5-7pm, an event hosted by the Mat-Su Student Advisory Board at Career Tech High School.
This is an opportunity to for students to learn about different cultures and explore new activities from around the world, traveling from classroom to classroom with a “passport” to mark their travels.
Each wing of the high school will be designated as a specific continent and the classrooms within will symbolize different countries, each decorated uniquely and containing crafts and games relevant to the native culture.
Along with that, there will be different opportunities to collect prizes, one of which being a cake walk, managed by the Fundraising Committee.
