Early Release June 14th
A Note from the Principal
Dear NES Families,
Thank you for a fantastic 2023-2024 school year. We appreciate all of your support this year and hope to make this last week memorable for all of our students. A few reminders for this last week:
- Field Day is Wednesday, June 12th from 1:00-3:10. Would be helpful if students wore comfortable clothes and shoes so they can move freely and have fun! If you did not sign up to volunteer and would like to, please send me a message on Parent Square.
- 5th Grade Moving On Ceremony is the last day of school, Friday June 14th from 10:30-11:30. This is for 5th grade families to attend.
- Friday is an Early Release Day with dismissal at 12:50.
- Report cards will be mailed home the week of June 17th.
- The 2024-2025 District Calendar is available below...scroll down
We wish for you a wonderful summer full of play and family time. We will miss your children and can't wait to see them next fall!
Sincerely,
Katie Brown, Principal

A Letter From Our PTO
Nooksack Elementary Parents & Guardians,
The Families for Nooksack PTO want to thank anyone who has ever attended an event, donated their time or money, donated items, or shared our fundraisers. We can’t believe that the first 2 years are under our belt! We wanted to share a few of our accomplishments. These were able to happen because of YOU.
- We raised over $40,000
- Held a winter festival, dodgeball event, bingo night, spring carnival, donuts with dudes, mornings with mom, and many more!
- Brought in the Reptile Man twice and a Jump Roper
- Gave each student $25 to be used towards field trips
- Held a Book Fair each year
- Created a school wide Fun Run
- Spoiled our staff during Staff Application Week
- Held a successful food drive
- Sponsored over 40 students with our Giving Tree
- Sold LOTS of Krispy Kreme Donuts
- Created the PTO Store!
- Early release staff baskets
- Purchased 100’s of books for the Library
- 5th grade end of the year event
This year we were able to offer all of our after school events at no cost to families. This was a goal of the PTO’s, and thanks to all the support we’ve received, we were able to achieve it in just our 2nd year!
As our current school year comes to an end, we are excited for the future. We are looking forward to being able to continue the work we have started and to continue to bring enrichment activities to all the students at Nooksack Elementary. We are also sad to announce that our current board has completed their 2- year term. Many of the board members are moving onto their next adventures. We wish them all the best of luck and will be cheering them on. With many board members leaving, it leaves some vacancies in the Families for Nooksack PTO Board. If you have a desire to help, want to learn more about the PTO or want to join please reach out via Facebook or send a Parent Square message to our Principal, Mrs. Brown.
We thank you again for an amazing 2 years and can’t wait to see what next year holds.

Limit Car Idiling
Please help us keep our air safe for kids during parent drop off and pick up. If you arrive early and are waiting in line, please turn off your vehicle. This is recommended by the WA Department of Ecology and some of our families who are breathing in car exhaust. Thank you so much!

As this is the first year, we will only be taking 20 players (2 teams) with the hope of being able to grow the league in the years to come and accommodate more teams in the future. Once the 20-player limit is met you will have the option to be added to a waitlist. In the event a registered player decides not to participate we will contact the waitlist in the order they were added to offer the spot.

• Junior, Senior and 4th/5th Grade Flag by July 15th: $100
• Junior and Senior Tackle by July 5th: $165

YOUTH FOOTBALL SKILLS CLINIC
Nooksack Valley alumni and youth coach Trevon Myhre, along with other parent volunteers, are offering a 2-day football clinic to all young athletes wanting to improve their skills or try out football for the first time.
It is our hope that during this clinic your child will learn some of the basic football fundamentals, as well as fine tune any skills they may already have. We will work on speed and agility and teach them drills they can do during their own time as well. Individual positional skills will also be an area of focus. Development of competitive confidence, leadership principles, and the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork will be emphasized.
If your child is not signed up to play football through the Nooksack Youth Football program but wants to see if football is for them, they are welcome to come participate.
This clinic is open to all players going INTO 1st-6th grade and will be FREE of charge.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade Session: July 16th and 17th, from 6pm-7pm at Nooksack Valley Middle School
4th, 5th and 6th Grade Session: July 16th and 17th, from 7pm-8pm at Nooksack Valley Middle School
Participants will need cleats and a water bottle.
Please contact Makenzie Myhre at (360) 325-6877 with any questions.
