In-Person Student-Led Conferences
Scheduling is Now LIVE!
November 21st from 4:00pm - 8:00pm & November 22nd from 8:00am - NOON
We are conducting in-person, student led conferences on November 21st and 22nd at Briggs Middle School. November 21st conferences will be held from 4pm to 8pm. November 22nd conferences will be held from 8am to Noon. Please carefully read through the important points below:
- For 7th graders, conferences will be held on a drop-in basis. You may come to Briggs with your student at any point during our conference times for a 10 to 15 minute conference.
- 6th & 8th grade conferences will be BY SCHEDULE ONLY. You will need to schedule into a specific 10-minute time slot during our conference times.
- ALL scheduling for the 6th and 8th grade conferences will be done via your ParentVue account (see screenshot).
- The option to schedule your student's conference became available on ParentVue on Wednesday, November 6th so it is live now!
- When scheduling your 6th or 8th grade student's conferences, you will only be able to choose their Math/Science teacher. This is on purpose! Their Language Arts/Social Studies teacher will be present for the conference, but only one time slot is needed as they will conference with you together.
- We understand that 10 minutes per conference may feel brief. Our recommendation is to utilize those 10 minutes to communicate with the teachers regarding your student's performance and then spend as much time as you would like afterwards at one of the many tables provided to allow your student to show you their portfolio or any work samples they may have pulled.
- Spanish translation support will be available.
Briggs Parking Lot Reminders
We've had a few instances of parents/guardians blowing through the crosswalk area of our parking lot in the morning and afternoon. We know mornings can feel rushed and drop-off/pick-up can feel slow, but PLEASE use caution in the parking lot. We kindly ask that you drive slow, stay off your cell phone and ALWAYS stop at the crosswalk in our parking lot. Our students' safety is number one priority and we ask that you help us make drop-of & pick-up safe for all! Thank you!

Vision and Dental Screenings for ALL SPS Students
BMS Dental Screening: January 23rd
Student health screenings are coordinated by Springfield Public Schools (SPS) Health Services and performed each school year for grades K-8. SPS partners with the Community Health Centers of Lane County for dental. Dental Screenings will only take place for students with a signed permission slip (permission slips passed out closer to the event date).
School Health Screenings
Health screenings play an integral part in children’s development and well-being. Because childhood health problems can eventually develop into chronic adult conditions, screenings that students are given in school can help detect potential health problems and improve the overall health of every student.
Healthy students are better learners and routine checks ensure that they are healthy and fit so they can meet their full academic potential. School health screenings help in the early detection of health conditions. SPS collaborates with community partners to provide these screenings for grades K-8 each school year.
For dental screenings, hygienists take a quick look inside the student’s mouth looking for any obvious signs of dental issues.

Briggs Website:
Informational Tidbits
Cell Phone Policy: Students that bring cell phones and other electronics to the school will need to have them turned off and put away during the school hours from 8:15 to 3:05 every day. If students need to contact a parent, they should come down to the office to do so. Please help us to enforce this expectation so students can concentrate on their classes and school work while at school. You can view our cell phone policy HERE.
Sports: We are excited to partner with Willamalane to provide after school sports. Students who are planning on participating in our fall sports of flag football, cross country, or volleyball can now register at the Willamalane website (www.willamalane.org) under “Youth Sports”. Fall sports will start on September 20th.
Briggs Online Gear
We are excited to have our very own online store. 10% of all proceeds come back to Briggs Middle School. There are plenty of designs to choose from and we love seeing students, parents, and community supporters rep our merch. Feel free to visit the store and check it out.
