Principal's Message
Increasing Literacy Across the Board
Increasing student achievement in literacy continues to be the main focus of our instructional program at Abraham Lincoln School. I am proud to report that we are making great strides in equipping our students with the skills to be excellent readers. Particularly in the areas of letter, sound, and sight words identification. Our teachers are working to implement an intervention based approach in their classrooms. This includes time for whole group, small group and one-on-one instruction (via IReady) for every child based on their individual needs. We are utilizing our Title I Reading tutors, intervention teachers and other support staff members to provide every student with targeted literacy instruction. Each child has an individual reading target that is based on the IReady Reading Program. Our goal is for every child to reach their target goal by the end of the school year. Please join us at our Parent Advisory Group meetings to share strategies to continue our progress.

Lincoln's Social Groups Permission Form
Form for Parents
The school counseling department at Abraham Lincoln School wants to make you aware of our Social Groups. Students may or may not be chosen to participate in a group, but by giving permission it allows more flexibility to prepare groups. Some of the groups offered are:
1. Social Club, a group that focuses on social skills and helping students develop friendships. Some children might be shy, nervous about making friends or having difficulty making and keeping friends. During this group your child will develop social skills that will contribute to making and keeping friends in an environment that will respect differences and encourage acceptance.
2. Kids Supporting Kids group, which focuses on helping students identify and understand their thoughts and feelings associated with grief and loss. Because your child has experienced loss/separation or death of a loved one, we wish to provide them with the opportunity to participate in the group. During the group sessions, your child will develop positive coping skills, learn from the experiences of others and receive positive peer support.
3. Regulation Club, a group that focuses on self-regulation skills and helping student express themselves. During group sessions, your child will learn strategies to self-regulate and use their words to express themselves.
These groups will meet once a week for approximately 10 weeks. Please click the Social Groups Permission form button below. If you have any questions about the groups, please feel free to contact Rebecca Zverina, School Counselor at (216) 438-6030 x5030, rebecca.zverina@mapleschools.com
