Running Loose
By Evan Carter
Story Elements
Running Loose takes place in Trout, Iowa during 1982. The main conflict in the story is Louie goes from having a girlfriend and people cheering for him to no one at school barley acknowledging him. The book begins with Louie explaining a little bit about how his senior year went from good to bad.
Charter Analysis
The main character is Louie Banks. Three words to describe the main character are confused, nice and scared. The character is motivated by his best friend Carter and his girlfriend Becky. I like the main character because even though he lost the one he loved he still pushes on and try to stay active by joining the track team. The relationship between Louie and Carter is very powerful and without Carter, Louie would be lost without a good friend like Carter.
Theme
The theme of the novel is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. One example that supports the theme is just because something bad happens doesn't mean you should quite. A third example from the book is try to go the distance even if you don't think you can do it. A final example that supports the theme is even if you don't think highly of yourself, others might.
Evaluation
I give this book a 7 out of 10 because the ending of the story doesn't bring closure to the characters story. I think many teens can relate to the book because some teens might have had a similar experiences in there life.
