Twenty high school teams from Colorado competed in the Young Escoffier Culinary Competition on April 5, 2019 in Boulder, CO. Our five aspiring chefs from the Career Center’s Culinary Arts Class competed in a timed event: where they prepared a garlic and panko crusted pork loin, parsley fingerlings, honey-roasted carrots with a double Dijon vinaigrette. Congratulations Luis Ramos, Grace McClung, Randy Roy, Lily Bagwell, Gavin Carcamo! They each earned a $3000 scholarship to the August Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. Congratulations Chef Horn your kids are amazing.
The Career Center’s student-run restaurant, the Fresh Side Cafe, 2935 North Ave., is open to the public when school is in session, from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, under the instruction of chef instructor Christina Horn. May 17th will be the last day for the restaurant to be open for the 2018/2019 school year.
