WFBHS Parent/Guardian Link
September 9, 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Congratulations on a great first week! I know that we throw a lot of information at our students through our advisory lessons and safety drills, but they took it all in stride. The goal is that everyone will enter week #2 feeling all the more comfortable and confident with the routines of the high school.
The pictures embedded throughout this Link include visuals from our Activities Fair last Friday. I am so proud of the 50+ student activities that were represented. A culture of student involvement is not one that I take for granted at WFBHS because not every school benefits from such high levels of participation. A schedule which includes ISHP/Lunch is a gift to our students as it allows many of our clubs to meet during the school day, such that they are not competing with other after-school activities. To those ends, I love to encourage students to do (to be) more than one thing and pursue multiple areas of interest! Please pay attention to announcements for the next few weeks. We will be advertising the first meetings for many of our clubs and organizations so it's a great opportunity to give your student an extra nudge to try something new.
Kind regards,
Amy Levek
Important Dates
September 9: Parent Association Meeting at 6:00pm in room 121

College Rep Visits
Over the next two months, we will host over 100 representatives from colleges and universities across the country. These will be advertised in the announcements as well as on the bulletin board outside of the Counseling Office. If any juniors or seniors would like to attend these visits, all they need to do is stop in the Counseling Office to obtain a pass.
Open Positions
WFBHS is in search of two paraprofessional positions to work with students who receive some support through our Special Education department. If you or someone you know might be interested, they can apply on WECAN or contact me directly at amy.levek@wfbschools.com.
In addition, our Athletics/Activities department is looking for event workers - ticket takers, announcers, books, event managers, etc. Please reach out to Mr. Drew at randeee.drew@wfbschools.com if you'd like to join the team!

New Immunization Requirements
The Department of Health Services has updated immunization requirements for school-aged children. These requirements for school-age children will go into effect at the beginning of the 2024–2025 school year. If your family is interested in signing a waiver, please contact your healthcare provider or the district nurse.
Changes include:
- Meningococcal (MenACWY-containing) vaccine has been added as a requirement for students entering seventh grade, and a booster dose for eligible students entering 12th grade.
- If a child has had chickenpox, a parent report of chickenpox disease is no longer acceptable for exemption from the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine requirement. Children must have a diagnosis of chickenpox from a qualified health care provider (M.D., D.O., N.P., or P.A.) to be exempt from this requirement, however existing exemption options still apply.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services website includes additional information. We encourage you to contact your healthcare provider if you have specific questions, or to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
Upcoming School Board Meetings:
The community is welcome to attend School Board meetings to gain a better understanding of School District business and the role of the School Board. The public is also invited to address the Board during the public comment portion as indicated in Board meetings. Meeting agendas are posted within BoardDocs two days preceding each meeting.
