Central Linn District News
March 2024
Community Bond Advisory Committee
On March 19th, the Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) convened to discuss two important topics related to potential future bond measures for facility improvements.
First, the committee reviewed their observations from the recent site walk-throughs they conducted at each of our school buildings. During these walk-throughs, committee members were able to see firsthand the current state of our facilities.
Secondly, the committee discussed the findings from the comprehensive Facilities Assessment that was performed by outside consultants. This assessment provided an in-depth analysis of the condition and needs of our schools' buildings, systems, and infrastructure.
The committee is carefully examining all the information from the walk-throughs and Facilities Assessment. Their work is crucial for determining which projects should potentially be included in future bond measures to upgrade and improve our district's educational facilities.
We appreciate the dedication of our volunteer committee members in going through this detailed process. Their insights and recommendations will help guide the district's long-term facilities planning.
We will continue to provide updates as the Bond Advisory Committee progresses in their work over the coming months. For additional and continuous information please visit our CBAC website.
CTE GROUNDBREAKING
We are happy to share that the groundbreaking ceremony for our new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Building took place on March 16th! This milestone was commemorated by Board Member, Tony Isom, during his remarks at the Booster Club Auction.
Since then, construction has moved steadily. Steps are now underway to pour the concrete slab that will serve as the building's foundation. The outer shell materials have also been ordered and will start going up soon.
The CTE Building will provide modern facilities dedicated to hands-on career programs. Having an updated CTE center allows Central Linn to significantly expand technical and vocational course offerings. This provides invaluable career exploration and preparation opportunities that will benefit Central Linn students for years to come.
We will keep you updated, as the project continues.
CENTRAL LINN ELEMENTARY LIT NIGHT
The Elementary Lit Night was a huge success! We had an excellent turnout of students and families joining us for a fun-filled evening celebrating literacy.
The highlight was seeing so many of our children engaged in the various reading activities and games set up in the classrooms and library. Guest Latin artist, Neri Rodriguez, offered an introduction to Salsa music and percussion that went along with the children's bilingual biography of Me Llamo Celia, a Salsa artist and legend. Select pages were read from a bilingual story with interactive Latin music. We also had an opportunity to introduce our new enhanced bilingual section in the elementary library and promote our language initiative to expose students to other languages by adding double AR points for all Spanish or bilingual books.
Events like Lit Night showcase how literacy skills develop through engaging instruction, creative activities, and an overall nurturing environment. Our staff put in great effort to make this celebration of reading both educational and entertaining.
Thank you to all the families who participated and helped make Elementary Lit Night such a successful event. Your support for building our students' literacy and fostering their love of reading is invaluable. Thank you to our Board members who joined us, serving meals to our staff and families.
We look forward to more amazing family literacy nights and events in the future!
BOOSTER CLUB - THANKS YOU!
As the dust settles on our recent annual Cobra Booster Club Auction, we are filled with nothing but gratitude for the overwhelming support we received. Your presence and active participation were the keystones of our event’s success.
Your spirited bidding and generous contributions have made a significant impact, allowing us to further help many students. It was a joy to witness the community come together, united by a common goal, and engage in the friendly competition of the auction.
We are proud to announce that, thanks to your efforts, we have grossed $46K, which will be given directly back to students in sports, clubs, drama, choir, and band. This achievement is a direct reflection of your kindness and commitment to giving back.
We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did organizing it and that the treasures you took home bring you great joy. Please accept our deepest thanks for your participation and for making the evening a memorable one.
Until next year’s auction, we remain grateful for your generosity and look forward to seeing you again.
Thank you

CONSTRUCTION CLASS TOURS SITES
Central Linn's Construction Class went on field trips to a Mountain Home Custom Builders Inc. residential construction site and the Sierra Pacific Industries wood products plant.
At the job site, students saw the home-building process and various trades in action, connecting classroom lessons to the real world. At Sierra Pacific, the class toured production operations and witnessed manufacturing equipment and processes utilized by this major local industry.

OREGON ROUTES LAUNCH SUCCESS WITH CENTRAL LINN SCHOOL DISTRICT
Parent Testimony - As a single parent working odd hours, getting my daughter to school was a constant struggle. The ride-share program has been a lifesaver! She now arrives happy and ready to learn, and it's made a huge difference in our lives.
Driver Testimony - Becoming a driver Oregon Routes has been more than just transportation; it's building deeper connections with my students. Seeing their faces light up when they climb in makes my day. It's rewarding to know I'm helping them overcome obstacles and ensuring they receive the education they deserve.
