MARCHATHON PLEDGES
We started pledges for our Marchathon fundraiser last Monday during band camp. Here’s what you need to do:
- Check your email for your personal page’s link and instructions; emails were sent to the student email and first adult email listed in charms. Contact Mr. Schroeder at mark.schroeder@wylieisd.net if you didn’t receive an email
- Update your page with your picture
- Enter cell phone numbers and/or email addresses of anyone you think might donate to you or THAT WYLIE BAND
- Post your personal page’s link or the band link to social media (click on the 99 Pledges icon for the band link)
- SOCIAL MEDIA IS HUGE ON THIS!!!! POST POST POST POST
Our goal is huge, $80,000 as a band and $275 per student! WE NEED EVERYONE’S PARTICIPATION TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
BAND CAMP WEEK 3 | START OF SCHOOL SCHEDULE 8/8-8/12
COMPETITION MARCHING ONLY MONDAY & TUESDAY | EVERYONE FRIDAY
- SOUND CREW NEEDED TUESDAY
- NO PROP CREW OR EQUIPMENT CREW MONDAY OR TUESDAY
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to rehearsal to put cases in locker, get any equipment needed for rehearsal, etc.Bring: Fanny Pack, Smart Phone or Tablet, Instrument, Music Binder, Water, Snack, Lunch, Sun Screen, Sneakers, Pencil, Positive Attitude

- October 29th – Area C Marching Contest - All day
- November 5-8 – BOA Super Regional & State Marching Championship (San Antonio)
- November 12th – Lone Star & Lewisville Drumline Contest (Drumline only)
WHEN SCHOOL BEGINS
School begins in Wylie ISD on Thursday, 8/11. There will be NO MORNING REHEARSAL ON THURSDAY (8/11) morning; Morning rehearsals will begin Friday, 8/12.
Please take note of the following list to help you get ready and organized for rehearsal and school.
- Eat breakfast
- Hydrate yourself
- Become a “morning person”
- Organize yourself and your supplies before you go to bed
- Go to bed at a reasonable time (before 10:30pm)
- Have a gym bag or use your TWB tote bag (separate from school bag) for your change of clothes and personal effects.
Example of contents of your gym bag/band tote bag – NOT A GROCERY BAG
- Change of clothes (Remember DRESS CODE!)
- Deodorant / Toiletries
- Snack (something to keep you going until lunch)

WIND SYMPHONY
- Flutes, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, & Trombones will play their concert instrument in class. Marching instruments will be used outside.
- All reed players will use cane reeds during inside rehearsals (synthetic reeds are for outside rehearsals and football games only)
- Oboes & Bassoons will need their oboe or bassoon AND marching instrument in class
- Horns, Euphoniums, & Tubas will play their marching instrument in class this week
WIND ENSEMBLE
- Flutes, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, & Trombones will play their concert instrument in class. Marching instruments will be used outside.

Thursday Morning Smith Elementary Performance Details
(Competition Band Battery Students Only)
- 6:50am arrive at Smith Elementary.
- Perform our 9 cadences 7:00-7:30am.
- 7:30am eat breakfast provided by Smith Elementary (You are dismissed at that time)
- Transportation will not be provided and carpooling back to the HS might be easiest, so please have a plan. Use the Band App to communicate with other battery students.
- Students will take their drum, stand and case home after Tuesday night's rehearsal and also bring their drum, stand and case back to the HS after the performance on Thursday.
- Performance attire is your first day of school clothes.
- Parents are welcome to attend.
COLOR GUARD
Friday 8/12 - Class time spent mostly on Pre-Game for weekend performances. Pirate flags will be used
- Students who were out last week will need to make plans to catch up on drill learned/choreography missed. It’s not a lot, you should be able to take care of it by showing up early to mark your sets.
- If your leggings do not fit, bring them to EVENING rehearsal Monday night WITH YOUR NAME ON THEM. Let’s take care of this asap.
Performance attire for this weekend:
- Warm Weather Attire: section shirt for Friday Night/black guard tank top for Saturday, body tight/ leggings/*tennis shoes for both nights
- Natural makeup look + eyelashes
- Hair up and nice for Friday night, Ponytails in for Saturday
- Gloves required part of uniform both nights
*if jazz shoes come in, will be worn for Meet the Pirate night on Saturday

SUBSCRIBE TO THE BAND CALENDAR ON YOUR DEVICE
- Copy the URL for the Google Calendar you want to add to your iPhone
- On your iPhone tap the Settings icon, then scroll down and select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
