Weekly Wrap
October 22 - 28, 2023
Principal Notes
Hello, BHS students and families!
Halloween can be an exciting and fun holiday to celebrate together at school. However, we must be sure that all expressions of this holiday meet our guidelines and allow for the normal operation of the school day. Please review the guidelines below and ensure that and costume worn or brought to school meets these criteria. If you have questions, please contact me or your grade level administrator.
BHS Halloween Costume Guidelines
- The costume should be appropriate for school and otherwise meet all expectations of our code of conduct.
- Costumes that require carrying any extra and/or unsafe items such as skateboards, surfboards, or have accessories or “props” that resemble, simulate, or could be used as a weapon are prohibited.
- Costumes should not reflect graphic violence or extreme blood and gore.
- No full-face mask or pullover masks or hoods.
- No excessive facial make-up that obscures your ability to be easily identified.
- Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning. This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in physical education class. Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
- Costumes cannot promote use of drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any kind.
- All costumes must be sensitive to all religious and ethnic groups and free from any language or symbols that target or inappropriately identify groups of students.
- Costumes should not include items with sound effects, lights or other components which would disrupt the classroom learning environment.
*If you are not sure the costume is appropriate – it probably is not.
Thank you for your support and understanding of our maintaining a safe and supportive school environment for everyone.
