Make, Create, and Build!
Middle School Library Transformed to Include the Makerspace
The middle school Makerspace is going strong. Our motto is “Make. Create. Build.” You can see our kids making and creating each and every day! Our permanent stations that kids can access during Makerspace Day in Baron Times:
· Spheros
· Sewing machines
· 3D printer
· Coding w/Swift Playgrounds
· Lego Wall
· Knex Projects
· Bloxels (video game creation)
· Green screen
We also have monthly rotations that teachers can utilize with their students during I/E or class times. Recent activities include:
· Design Time competition
· Build a snowball catapult
· Design a stop motion story
· Create a greenscreen movie
· Experience a virtual field trip
Our Makerspace activities can also be checked out to teachers and used within the classrooms. In the month of March, Mrs. Ramsey’s math class learned to be computer programmers using the Spheros block coding activities. Mrs. Rennix’s students build zoo enclosures with the 3D printer and Tinkercad. The fifth grade teachers took their students on virtual field trips via VR goggles to learn about the civil rights movement, the American Revolution, and the Great Depression.
