Dear IHMS Families,

We just want to take a moment to say thank you. Your support, whether it’s helping with homework, cheering at events, or just being there for your kids, makes such a difference. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

Our school is a special place because of the partnership we share, and we are so grateful to have families like you who care so deeply about your children’s success and our community.

Thank you for trusting us with your kids and for being such an important part of the Indian Hill Community. We hope everyone enjoys their break resting and connecting with family.

Dr. Kelley Capper, Mrs. Gorniak, and Mr. Ruder

Here at Indian Hills, we have a strong tradition of helping those that are in need. For those of you able to contribute, please consider purchasing Target or Walmart gift cards for $10 or $20 each. We will collect them to support our Knight families in need of some holiday assistance.

If you are willing and able to donate, please either personally drop gift cards off or send with your student to be dropped off in the front office by Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to share about an opportunity we are providing to support the emotional well-being of our middle school students. The Student Services team will be presenting an emotional regulation skill building program through science classes today, Friday, November 22nd for seventh graders and Monday, December 2nd for eighth graders.

This program has been developed in collaboration with Renew Counseling of Kansas City. It is designed to equip students with practical tools to manage stress and anxiety, promote emotional regulation, and support overall mental health.

Your student will come home with a resource card that you can go over with them to further the conversation and strengthen skills.

Following the classroom presentations, we are excited to extend this important conversation to our school community with additional opportunities.

Renew Counseling Parent Night Presentation & Mental Health Fair:

  • We invite you to join us for a special evening dedicated to supporting families in understanding and addressing mental health. You’ll have the chance to hear from experts, explore resources, and engage with community mental health providers.
  • Date still to be determined, invitations will be sent for an evening in early February

Small Group Opportunities for Students:

  • For students who may need additional support, we will offer small group sessions focused on anxiety management and related challenges. These groups will provide a safe space to practice coping skills and build peer connections.
  • More information for spring time groups will be forthcoming

If you have any questions, wish to learn more about the lesson or the upcoming opportunities please reach out to a student services member. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students’ well-being. Together, we can help them thrive both academically and personally.

Warm regards,

Student Services Team

If there's a family emergency and your child needs to ride a different bus, here's how to make that happen:

1. Both students must be registered bus riders: This means they should already be set up to ride the bus regularly.

2. Let us know:

  • The guardians of both students should email the grade-level administration before 9:00 AM on the day the students wish to ride a different bus.
  • In the email, please include the names of the students, their grade levels, and a brief reason for the request.

3. Permission slip: Once approved, the students will be given a permission slip to show the bus driver when they board the bus.

By following these simple steps, we can ensure the safety and smooth ride for everyone involved. Thank you for your cooperation!
