Please make note of the many upcoming dates that we will not be able to accommodate lunch deliveries or visitors. We appreciate your understanding during this busy testing season. Please be sure your child charges their computer nightly and comes to school with their computer on benchmark days.
The hundredth day of school is on February 3rd. We would love to see your child dress up for this event.
Gleason has an end of year party in lieu of a Valentine’s Day party. Students may bring valentines for all classmates on Thursday, February 13 to exchange the last 15 minutes of the day. Valentines with treats or candy will be allowed, but will be sent home with students in their valentine bag at the end of the day. Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, etc. Those items will not be permitted. In addition, please do not send any items containing peanuts due to student allergies.

Monthly Character Traits

January: Punctuality
As we begin a new year, it’s important to look at our daily habits. As we focus on punctuality, reflect on your family’s morning routines, night time routines, after school and/or weekend activities. Would you say your family is punctual? How was school punctuality for you when you were a student?
Did you know, when your child is consistently not punctual (tardy, absent and/or leaving early) for school you’re indirectly telling your child education is not important and you do not value their learning. Most of the time, this is not what we are trying to portray. You want your child to learn and excel; but there is an obstacle that is getting in the way.
Here’s some tips to help parents get over the obstacles and be punctual.
Tip 1: Plan Ahead
Lay clothes out the night before
Pack meals the night before
Check backpacks when they get home from school.
Have a designated place for belongings
Tip 2: Predict Common Obstacles.
Behavior- Preteach/reteach expectations on the way.
Traffic
Talk positively about school
Why would your child want to go to school if you’re talking badly about Gleason/staff/subjects?
Tip 3: Schedules and Routines
Have a morning, after school, night time and weekend routine
Betimes
Routines
If your child is consistently tardy, absent and/or leaving early, they are missing the same part of the day. Did you know that children who miss 10 percent of the days they are enrolled in schools are less likely to learn to read by third grade and graduate from high school? That’s about 2 days each month and it harms children as early as pre-kindergarten.
If there’s a barrier that is affecting your child’s punctuality for school, please reach out. We want to be able to support our families and want all students to have all opportunities.

Counselor's Corner
There was a lot that was happening in the counselor's office in the month of December.
I was able to visit with students that parents’ opted in to receive the grade appropriate Anti-Victimization lessons. We discussed
Knowing the rules
Have a plan
Tell someone you trust for help
Helping with attendance is one of my personal goals, so in December we had 12 Days of Good Attendance. The students that were present all day, from December 5th-December 20th were entered into a drawing. The two students that won a bicycle were Ember’ Jade Harris and Jermon Aparicio. Congratulations and thank you for ensuring your children are on time for school and here all day learning! We will continue to have unannounced attendance incentives.
We also had the Gleason Giving Tree. Thank you for all the donations from our families and staff to help our families in need for the holidays. We raised $1055.00. The gift cards went directly to Gleason families. Each child received $50.00 to either Kroger or HEB along with $50.00 to Target or Walmart to ensure the family was able to purchase food and a little holiday magic. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.
Upcoming CFISD Event on January 14, 2025
CFISD Parent Collaborative / Substance Use Parent Night – Topic: Mental Health and Substance Use
A Note From The Nurse...Mrs. Nguyen
Please remember to pack a spare set of clothes (socks and underwear) in case of bathroom accidents or drink spills. PreK and K should have several sets. Borrowed clothes should be returned clean to clinic as soon as possible since we are running very low.
The clinic no longer has any boy's underwear, parents should be expecting a call from the clinic to bring clothes if the student does not have a spare change of clothes with them.
We are looking for gently used girls/boys shorts/pants and new girls/boys underwear donations (size Small-Medium/6-8). Thank you so much!
