From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

The end of the year is near! As we come to the final nine days of school, please be sure to check out our End of Year Event Calendar below. It includes important dates and information for activities and events including Field Day, Awards Night, and Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 8th Grade Graduation.

As the year comes to a close, I am reminded of the words of St. Paul in his 2nd Letter to Timothy. Coming to the end of his earthly discipleship, St. Paul remarks, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). May we all remain steadfast in our duties and responsibilities in the remaining days so that, come June 15th, we may say, as St. Paul did, that we have fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished the race.

Also, as we approach the end of the year, Father Doyle School typically send out an End of Year Survey for Families to assist with planning for the upcoming school year. If you have not already had an opportunity to do so, we encourage all families to provide feedback in the survey linked here and included below.

Uniform Fitting Day

Mrs. Jarvis and Mrs. Marra will be available Monday June 5th from 2:45 - 3:45 in the gym if you would like help with sizing or ordering for uniforms for next year! It is highly recommend that all orders be in by July 1st to ensure you receive your uniforms on time!

Over the past year we have offered a new process for ordering uniforms in which families place orders through the school. The school then places monthly bulk orders that result in reduced costs for families and a more responsive customer experience. At this time, we are planning to continue with this option in the 2023-2024 school year. Please note, unfortunately returns and exchanges can only be guaranteed if uniforms are purchased directly through Donnelly's, not through the school ordering system.

Olde Theater Diner Restaurant Night to Support FJVD!

Visit Olde Theater Diner anytime on June 7th and support FJVD while also supporting a local business!

The restaurant will be donating a portion of all sales on June 7th back to the school! Please note that both dine-in and take-out orders apply, and you do not need to present a flyer or other form of verification.

End of Year Parent Survey 2023

At our State of the School Address, we also announced the publication of our 2023 End of Year Survey.

We encourage all families to provide their feedback in the survey, which only takes a few minutes to complete. You can find the full survey here.

Altar Server Training Class - July 1st

Our Parish is now recruiting for new Altar Servers, and there will be having an Altar Server Training Class, Saturday July 1st from 1 to 3pm in the Church. All boys and girls who are parishioners at Ss. John and Paul, are entering 4th grade or above next school year, and have made their First Communion are eligible to become an Altar Server. If you are interested, please fill out the form below and return it to Mrs. Jarvis or Fr. Woolley.

Monday, June 12 (K-8th)

What to Wear: Gym Uniforms, Sunscreen, Pack Extra Water

How to Help: Sign up to volunteer here (bit.ly/FJVDFieldDay22) and/or donate Bunch O’ Balloons for water balloon games.

Bulk Ordering for Gym T-shirts and Sweatshirts

The PTO is happy to bring back a way for our families to save some money on school gym shirts. We are working with a new company, in order to get the best pricing.

T-shirts are $10, and Sweatshirts are $17. Because this is a bulk order all student orders must be placed by July 1st. (No Exceptions) Gym shirts can be ordered at. https://fjvduniforms.square.site You will be able to have them shipped to the school (free) and we will set up a time to pick them up prior to the first week of school.

Please note that gym shirts can still be ordered from Donnelly’s or through our website at regular price at any time.

End of Year Event Calendar

State of the School Address - Monday, May 22nd
- 6:30pm in the Church Hall
Pre-Kindergarten Field Day - Thursday, June 8th
K-8 Field Day - Monday, June 12th
- K-8 students should wear their gym uniforms for Field Day
4-8 Awards Presentation - Monday, June 12th
- Awards Presentation for students in grades 4-8
- Presentation begins at 6:15pm in the Church Hall
Pre-Kindergarten Graduation - Tuesday, June 13th
- 9:00am in the Church Hall, students dismissed after graduation
- Please note that Monday, June 12th is a half day for Pre-K (11:30am dismissal)
8th Grade Banquet - Tuesday, June 13th
- 6:00pm at the school, details to follow
Kindergarten Graduation - Wednesday, June 14th
- 10am in the Church Hall, students dismissed after graduation
- Please note, kindergarten students do not attend school for the half day on Thursday, June 15th
Last Day of School (1-8) - Thursday, June 15th
- The last day of school will be an 11:30am dismissal for all students
8th Grade Graduation - Thursday, June 15th
- 6:30pm in the Church

The middle school students came together for the annual Respect Life Baby Shower this week. Proceeds from the event are donates to the Mother of Life Center in Providence.

1st Grade Morning Meeting! From counting to weather, our first graders know how to start the day off right!

As graduation approaches, our 8th graders had their class picture taken. It is this picture which will be placed in our entry hallway with all 8th grade pictures dating back to the first 8th grade class in the spring of 1969. An historic moment!

The Nurse's Corner

A reminder that Father John V. Doyle School is a peanut and tree-nut free school. For the safety of all students, we ask that children not bring snacks and other food items to school that contain peanuts and/or tree nuts. This includes peanut butter, nutella, and granola bars containing peanuts or tree nuts.
