Better World Week begins April 28! Our school is supporting Asheville Middle School as they work to restore the river front that was damaged from Hurricane Helene. Our students will begin to create flyers, digital tools, yard signs, etc to publicize our support.

We will also be creating a pollinator garden here at Buckhorn Creek to mimic some of the work Asheville Middle is doing. A link to help purchase these items will be share next week. Our goal this week is to clear the list for Ashville Middle as they need our support first!

Friday, April 11 is a spirit day! Students are encouraged to dress in Hawaiian clothes.

End of Grade (EOG) Testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade must occur in the last 10 days of school as directed by state law. We are asking for all families to note June 2nd - June 13th on their calendar for EOG testing.

We have not identified exact dates yet for each grade level. However, having students here on the date of testing to reduce the number of make-up tests is essential. Please mark your calendar and plan accordingly.

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Fairness. Fairness means treating everyone with respect and recognizing that all people have value. It also means being open-minded and fair in how we approach situations.

By teaching fairness, we help students develop into responsible, trustworthy, and kind individuals who care about others. Fairness builds the foundation for strong friendships and a positive community.

To practice and encourage the character strength of fairness at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Our PTA has worked with a vender to ensure this link is open ALL YEAR!

Please only select ONE time period per family. This allows two families an option each day to have lunch with their children.

We are excited to offer the opportunity for parents and visitors to have lunch with students once again. However, in order to ensure safety, manage space limitations, and to ensure the process is successful we must maintain guidelines and expectations for logistics.
