Palouse Prairie School Meals
Palouse Prairie receives vended meals through the Moscow School District, which has been approved to participate in the USDA “covid feeding” program starting Monday, September 14. This means that any child between the ages of 1 and 18 is eligible to receive a school meal free of charge. Please note that both breakfast and lunch must be taken to qualify for the free meal. This will be in effect until December 31, 2020 or until USDA discontinues the program.
If your student is physically attending school at Palouse Prairie on a given day, they will receive both a lunch for that day, and a breakfast for the following day while at school.
Palouse Prairie students that are not physically attending school have the option to pick up meals outside at Lena Whitmore Elementary School, or at one of several MSD meals route bus stops. Meals bus stop locations and times will be posted soon on the MSD website. The district hopes to provide meals for every child that needs them. However, their capacity to produce and distribute meals is limited, and there may be days when the meals run out.
IMPORTANT: Even with this change, please complete the Free and Reduced meals application through the link on the PPCS website. The school needs to know how many families qualify for this program to determine our eligibility for a variety of state and Federal funds and other grants. This application is also important because when the “covid feeding” program ends, Palouse Prairie will resume charging for meals, except for those students from families who have been approved through the Free and Reduced meals program.
