It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a CHAMPION CHARGER!

WELCOME BACK CHARGERS!


The Spring Semester has finally arrived! There are many exciting events happening on campus and planning for our students' futures is our top priority! Please take a moment to speak with your child about his/her chosen pathway through their high school years and reach out to our amazing counseling team, our AP team, and your children's teachers to ensure they are on the path that is right for them. There are so many opportunities at their fingertips here at Champion High School and within Boerne ISD. Over the next few weeks we will be personally meeting with each and every student to review their choices for the upcoming school year and to look at where they are now.


Special thank you to all of those who have made the transition to our new addition possible! The students were able to have their first classes in the new addition beginning today. It is a beautiful building with teaching and learning spaces that encourage and support all those that enter! Champion High School is very appreciative of the efforts that have gone into making this available for our students.


Our faculty and staff had their joy for teaching reignited by a motivational speaker, on Friday, January 10th. Mr. Stephen Mackey gave our staff a new focus for the spring semester!

Great Things Happening!

BOYS BASKETBALL

Our Christmas season went well! We finished the break with a 6-2 varsity record, including big district wins over Kerrville and Veterans Memorial. Updated season records: Varsity 21-6 / JV 13-0 / 9th 13-0. We have a huge home game coming up Friday against rival Alamo Heights. We have scheduled Voss/South Middle School night, along with the Super Squad Cheer organization, so it should be a great night for everyone. Ice Heights! We also play at Boerne High School on MLK day. January 20th, 5/5/6:30. *Below you will see us working at our service project over the break. We were at Hill Country Daily Bread and it turned out to be a huge success! We boxed clothes and food to be distributed to families in the Hill Country community. THANK YOU CHARGER BASKETBALL!

CHAMPION CHARMS

Champion Charms Colonel Brooklyn Kennell proudly represented the Charms, Champion HS, and BISD as a member of the All-State Dance Team! She performed with other dancers from around the state at the Texas Dance Educators Convention! You can see the performance here:

CHAMPION SPEECH/DEBATE TEAM

Champion's Speech and Debate Team competed at Winston Churchill High Schools’ Invitational this past weekend. Aldo Gonzalez received 5th place in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking, Adriana Swanson finished 3rd place in Program Oral Interpretation, and Adriana Swanson and her partner Sophia Wallace (not pictured) finished 6th place in Duo Interpretation. CONGRATS CHARGERS!

NATIONAL SPEECH & DEBATE ASSOCIATION

Several of our Champion Speech & Debate students have earned more degrees with the NSDA Honor Society. Each new degree represents hours of learning, practice, and improvement by our students thanks to dedicated coaching. The following degrees were earned at Boerne-Samuel V Champion High School during the month of December. CONGRATS CHARGERS!

ALAMO BOWL SCHOLARSHIP WINNER - Serena Sharma

CONGRATULATIONS TO Serena Sharma!!! She was awarded the Valero Alamo Bowl Student-Athlete Scholarship over the break. On December 17 at the H-E-B Scholarship Awards Luncheon, at Security Service Event Center, 97 high school winners representing 77 San Antonio area public and private schools shared in $727,500 in Valero Alamo Bowl Student-Athlete scholarships. The scholarships were awarded based on academic achievement, teacher recommendations, involvement in extracurricular activities, and varsity sports as well as honors received and a personal narrative.

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good morning and welcome back Chargers!

There are a few changes that you need to be aware of beginning today. Over the holiday break, some of your teachers have moved to new classrooms. The new classroom is listed on your new schedule that you picked up this morning. Please pay attention to the room numbers for your new classrooms. If you have any problems with your schedule - missing classes, missing periods, double classes - you may see your counselor to correct this error today. All other schedule changes will be addressed by appointment only.

ALL CLASSES WITH MR. LIBERTY - DURING YOUR CLASS PERIOD, SEE THE ADMINISTRATOR THAT WILL BE AT THE RANCH FOR YOUR CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS.

PTO FUNDRAISER: Parry's Pizza (South RIM) is hosting a Spirit Night fundraiser on January 15th from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mention Champion and 20% of your bill will be donated to the Champion PTO.

SENIOR CLASS: There will be a senior class meeting during advisory on Tuesday. Make sure you are here! This meeting will give you all the details you need for Graduation Cap & Gown from HerffJones. Make sure you pay attention to all the information given. Copies of any documents given out at that meeting will be available in the front office and the AP offices starting on Wednesday.

WES TUTORING - WES Tutoring starts up again this coming Wednesday from 4-6pm. If you need tutoring help, please make sure you sign up to attend.

PTO LUNCH - Our next PTO Chick-Fil-A Day is coming soon. It will be later this month on Friday, Jan 24th. More details to come.

SATURDAY SCHOOL - the next Saturday School date is January 25th from 8am-12noon. See Mr. Clayton if you have questions about attendance recovery.
