Y5 & Y6 Productions Next Week!
The children in Years 5 and 6 have been at their most dramatic recently during rehearsals for next week's production performances.
This is a unique opportunity to come together and enjoy the performing arts strands of the New Zealand curriculum as they take to the stage for their moment in the spotlight. Such events go far beyond the intrinsic benefits of drama, literacy and oral language, encompassing many aspects of visual arts, music, dance and the overall sense of camaraderie that comes with being part of a show.
Admittedly, this may not align well with recent suggestions from the government that The Arts should perhaps be 'deferred' in schools, but I have no doubt whatsoever that the results will be of educational (and also personal) value to the students - which I'm sure will also be the case for the audience!
Site Fencing
As part of a bid for Ministry funding to make our site fencing more secure, you may notice that temporary fencing has been placed in some areas along the school boundary. This should cause minimal inconvenience, and is expected to remain on site until funding is approved by the National Office. Unfortunately, this is typically a very lengthy process, but hopefully it will be well worth the unsightly temporary aesthetics in the end!
Beats by Bingo
Due to the PTA's hard work, the Board is able to progress plans for a much-needed playground upgrade, which we hope to be able to share more information on in Term 4.
Play and outdoor spaces in general are just one of the many aspects that schools receive no funding for, so the results will be of significant benefit to both current and future tamariki at MENPS. Sincere thanks to the team for making events like these possible, to all those who donated so generously, and to our local sponsors for their support!
