Sappington Fall Classroom Celebrations

Our Fall Classroom Celebrations is Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM. You will receive specific information from your child's classroom teacher.

📌 This sign up link is exclusively designated for this specific event. Regardless of whether you have signed up for a badge for previous events, we kindly ask that you use this link for the Fall Classroom Celebrations. This process will put you on our "VIP list" to have your name tag ready for you upon arrival, if you are already in our system. To help the check in process go faster, we will print name tags ahead of time for those who have had their ID scanned this school year. If you have not had your ID scanned this school year, it would be helpful to stop by Sappington before October 17.

Visitor Identification System

All visitors are required to show a state issued photo ID when they enter any Lindbergh school or building.

Our visitor identification system allows us to know who is in our building, at all times. It also checks visitors against the national sex offender registry. We understand this may cause some brief inconvenience when visiting our schools, but the time it takes to show ID and receive a visitor badge should be about the same as signing in on existing paper or computer logs. Working together, we can meet our goal to keep our schools safe and protect students and staff.

Parking for Classroom Celebrations

If you plan to attend our classroom celebrations, we ask that you park on our "field" which is the grassy area in the middle of our parking lot. Please do not park on the street along Gravois. We also ask that you do not use the parking spaces facing Gravois because it interferes with our dismissal lanes. We ask that you follow our instructions when the classroom celebrations has concluded in order for us to transition to our dismissal process in an efficient manner.

Morning Arrival

For the safety of all students, please make sure your child remains seated inside the vehicle during morning drop-off. Please refrain from activities like leaning out of windows or standing in sunroofs.

Sappington Title I Family Survey

We are asking each family to complete this brief survey to gather input for our schoolwide Title I partnership. One of our agreements with this model is to provide family involvement activities to all of our Sappington families. Your feedback will help us better serve the needs of our school community. We know students learn best when everyone works together to support education. Thank you.

Fall Conferences

Our Fall Family Conferences will be held on November 6 & 7. This is an opportunity to discuss your child's progress and partner with their teacher to set goals. You will hear more from your child’s classroom teacher about how to schedule your conference and how to prepare for this meaningful discussion.

Possible questions to ask your child’s teacher:

• In what areas are my child’s glows and grows?
  
• Does my child participate in class?
  
• Does my child seem happy at school and have quality friendships?
  
• Does my child seem rested, focused, and ready to learn?
  
• What can I do at home to help?

We are excited to host our first Social Emotional Learning Night for families! Space is limited. Sign up if you are interested in learning and participating in SEL activities as a family!

Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on Halloween, which will be Thursday, Oct. 31. Costumes are optional, and to ensure that the school day proceeds without interruption, they must meet the following requirements:

• Costumes may be worn on Halloween only, not during fall classroom celebrations.
  

• Students must be able to wear the costume to school and throughout the school day without any adult assistance (no changing clothes at school).

• The costume must allow the student to go to the restroom unassisted.
  

• The costume must allow the student to participate in learning without distractions (ex: no props, inflatable costumes, large boxes, etc.)
• Please spray hair before coming to school if you feel colored hair is keeping with the character. No aerosol cans are allowed on the bus or at school.

• No masks. Face masks that cover the entire face are prohibited for safety reasons.

• No toy weapons of any kind. Absolutely no weapons--real or pretend--or props that could cause injury. This includes, but is not limited to, knives, spears, hatchets, guns, and swords.

• Costumes must be respectful of others and may not include anything violent or gruesome (no blood).

• Costumes should not be graphically violent such as bloody masks, stab wounds, or other injuries.
  
• Costumes should not be offensive to any religion, race, or culture.
• Costumes should not make any reference to substances that are prohibited for sale to minors.
• Costumes should not depict any activity that would otherwise be considered a crime or illegal act.
• Students will not have an opportunity to change at school.

This fall, Lindbergh Schools is connecting students and community members through the power of picture books, and you are invited to participate!

Lindbergh elementary schools will kick off “From Stories to Service” Oct. 23-24. We invite all members of the Lindbergh community to visit our elementary classrooms and serve as Community Readers by reading aloud one of our “From Stories to Service” picture books. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for more than one date and time!

After our Community Readers visit, it’s time for service! Classes will be encouraged to select their favorite book and use it as inspiration for a service learning project, encouraging students to use their talents and creativity to help make the world a better place.

• Dresseltastic Performance!, 9-10:30 a.m.., Thursday, Oct. 17: Community members are invited to a Dresseltastic Performance! Dressel Elementary School presents student entertainment at 9 a.m., followed by student-led tours of Lindbergh's newest elementary school.

• Call Newspapers Job Fair at Lindbergh High School, 2:30-5:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18: Lindbergh Schools is proud to cosponsor a Community Job Fair with Call Newspapers and the Southwest Chamber of Commerce. This event will take place in the LHS cafeteria. All are welcome!

Calling all students, parents, and community members: Lindbergh Schools wants your nominations for #TeacherProud Tuesday! Tell us about a teacher who works in our schools who has made a difference in your life, and they might be selected to be featured on social media as part of #TeacherProud Tuesday, a statewide social media initiative that is designed to recognize outstanding teachers and promote public education. On the second Tuesday of each month, Missouri school districts will recognize a #TeacherProud Tuesday honoree for going above and beyond, and making a difference in the lives of students.

Did you know? Parents can email foodservice@lindberghschools.ws to block ala carte purchases and set limits for their student, including:

• Blocking ala carte purchases. This prevents students from buying snacks in addition to their daily meal, or from purchasing additional cartons of milk.

• Setting a daily purchase limit. The “Single Purchasable Restriction” option allows parents and guardians to set a daily limit for how much money their student can spend.

These limits only apply to purchases that are made through the student’s electronic nutrition account. All limits and blocks remain in effect until a parent or guardian requests in writing that the account be changed.

Sappington Families-

First and foremost, we want to emphasize that we welcome and encourage our elementary school students to attend high school sporting events to support our district and community.

However, it is our top priority to ensure the safety of all students, and we need your help in achieving this goal. With large crowds, spirited atmospheres, and potential distractions, we kindly request that elementary school students remain under the direct supervision of an adult during the entire duration of Lindbergh High School football games.

Please read the following expectations that will apply to our elementary students for attending our high school games:

• No outside sports equipment allowed.
• Elementary school students are welcome at games and must remain with an adult throughout the game.
• Watch and enjoy the game.
• Elementary students should not wander to off-limits locations or the visiting team's side.
• Elementary students should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Students who do not follow our expectations will be asked to leave.
• Remember that school policies and rules apply at District events.

Lindbergh’s Student Information System, Infinite Campus, allows parents and guardians to set up recurring payments for student meal balances, and reload student balances automatically when they reach a determined threshold. In addition, yellow deposit envelopes are available in each school cafeteria for families who prefer to pay with cash or check (made payable to “Lindbergh Schools.”).

To set up automatic payments for your student, please follow these instructions:

1. Log in to Infinite Campus

2. Click the “My Accounts” button on the right side of your student dashboard

3. Select “Recurring Payments,” then click “Food Service”

4. Follow the prompts in the “Recurring Payment” window to set up automatic payments

Our online system in Infinite Campus also allows parents and guardians to make decisions and set limits for their student, including:

Parents and guardians can review a student’s purchase history and account activity in the “Food Service” section, on the Infinite Campus Portal.

Students may arrive in the building between 8:35 and 8:45 if they are being dropped off by an adult. Students arriving on the bus will have admittance into the building beginning at 8:35 AM.

We will dismiss students from campus beginning at 3:35 PM.

Important:

• Enter our campus on Gravois by making a right turn only. Flashers on please.
• Exit our campus by making a right turn only on Gravois.

Following these instructions will help us a great deal with the flow of traffic and hopefully prevent us from causing as much of a huge backup on Gravois. As always, thank you for your patience.

Please practice caution and put cell phones away during arrival and dismissal.

Morning car riders

• Please do not let your child out of the car until you have reached the designated areas with staff supervision. The flag pole is not a safe spot to begin.
• Adults-please remain in your vehicle to help us ensure a smooth and efficient arrival process.
• You can help us tremendously by getting all your hugs and kisses at home, having their backpack ready, and having a smile on your face as you wave goodbye. THANK YOU!
  

Walkers

• If you are walking to and from school, please ensure you are walking the entire route to/from your home. Please do not drive and park along Gravois or the neighboring condominiums, apartments, etc.
• We will have all morning walkers enter the building at our entrances near the main door.
• Adults for afternoon walkers, please wait along the sidewalk near the front entrance. A staff member will come out to assist you.

In partnership with the district’s transportation provider First Student, Lindbergh Schools uses the FirstView app to communicate bus information with families in real time. This includes student pickup and drop-off times, and any delays or notifications.

1. Download the FirstView app from the Apple or Google Play store

2. Click the yellow button that says “Tap here to add a new student”

3. Make sure the fields are set as follows:

1. State = “Missouri”

2. District = “Lindbergh SD”

3. Student Number = In this field, please enter your student’s 10-digit Student Number, which is located on the “Student Profile” page in Infinite Campus

It is important to note that bus routes change from year to year, so your student’s bus stop and pickup/drop-off times may not be the same as last year. Families are required to sign up for transportation services annually.

Sappington uses the PikMyKid platform to improve the safety and efficiency of our pick-up process. Families will need to download the PikMyKid app on their cell phones. This free app can be found in the app store and will allow you to notify the school of pick-up changes, authorize others to pick-up your child from school, alert you when your child has been picked up or sent home on the bus, as well as help organize the car line during pick-up.

• The registration process is easy. If you have not done so already, we ask that all families register with the phone application as soon as possible. Please make sure you register with your personal current mobile phone number or the app will not allow you to access your child’s information for security reasons.

• If you do not think the school has your mobile number on file or if your child does not appear on your app’s home page, contact support@pikmykid.com after registration, with your child’s name, school, grade, and updated contact information for you.

• Anyone who will be picking up your child should also register themselves with the application. Their screen will be blank and they will not have any authorization until you allow it within the app.
