The Rhodes Ahead

After the Superbowl is over this Sunday, much of the advertising that we see will have to do with Valentine's Day. February 14 we remember St. Valentine. While St. Valentine is widely associated with love and friendship, his true story is one of sacrificial love and courage in spreading the faith. As a priest in the early Church, he secretly married Christian couples and was eventually martyred for his faith.

Someone shared with me recently The Best Marriage Questions we Ask Every Week from nancyray.com, which online she gives credit to the Navigator's Council. The questions for the married couple to discuss are: What brought you joy this week? What was something that was hard this week? What's one specific thing I can do for you this week? How can I pray for you this week? Is there anything that's been left unspoken or unsaid? What a dream, desire or thought that's been on the forefront of your mind this week? Then end in prayer.

I used to say to my young children that my husband and I need to go on dates because they were going to move out and I still needed to like their dad. I wish we would have been wise enough to have conversations like this. The good news is that eventually we did find our way to working on our marriage through small groups and events. To be like St. Valentine and spread the faith, we need to start in our domestic church.

Tuition has been set after much prayer with a desire to be good stewards of tuition and parish support. For in parish tuition (those active parishioners who are growing in the 5 foundation stones). It is as follows:

Two Students $ 8565

Three or More $ 10,660

We understand that it is a commitment to pay for a Catholic Education and want everyone who desires it to have access to it. We encourage those who need it to apply for financial assistance.

It is that time of year when we will start the enrollment process. Please note that all current students are rolled into next year's enrollment and your FACT's account will collect the fees around Feb. 20. You need to notify us in advance if your plans have changed. Please email myself or Cindy if you need to change it.

It is also that time when we will be collecting names of siblings you might want to enroll. Especially those entering Kindergarten. Please go into your admin account and log in. Click the button to enroll for next year and add your additional student. As always please make sure that your information is correct and complete.

Are you interested in attending Bishop Miege High School? We invite and encourage any seventh grade student interested to attend our half-day preview day in February. Students will interact with Miege students, sit in on a class, tour the school and learn about all the great activities our school has to offer.

Dennis uniform will have a liquidation sale Feb. 14-18 from 10:00am to 6:00 pm at 6322 College Blvd., OP, KS 66211. For those families who have unfulfilled orders, they must bring their receipt to the sale and if there is available inventory, can purchase the same items for $0.00. If the inventory is not available , the the Receiver will offer those customer and additional 20% discount on available inventory. Customers who have unused vouchers will also receive the additional 20% discount.

World Marriage Day Mass: All married couples are invited to attend the World Marriage Day Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Naumann, here at Sacred Heart on Sunday, February 9 at 11:00 am. Receive a special blessing from Archbishop during Mass. A donut reception will follow Mass.

Superbowl Bowling Social HSYM: All High School students are invited to our 3rd Annual Superbowl Bowling Social on Sunday, February 9, from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. Join our pregame celebration! Register here.

Mother's Circle Meeting: Mother's Circle will meet Thursday, February 13, at 7:30 pm in Meeting Rooms 1 & 2 to hear from two wonderful Catholic counselors about kids & anxiety, followed by discussion. Please join us!

St. Benedict Rosary Prayer Group will meet on the little playground at 3:06 each Wednesday to pray The Rosary (or at least part of it) for SHOJ school. All are welcome, even littles can come play while you pray. Please join us.
