PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
This week, NIS has been a whirlwind of learning, achievement, and school spirit! We've seen fantastic examples of dedication and teamwork both on and off the field.
Cyber Safety Champions!
A big thanks to Life Education for their visit and its focus on cyber safety. Equipping all of our students with the knowledge to navigate the online world confidently is a vital part of their education. It was great to see how engaged all of our students were. Being safe online is one of the most challenging spaces for our students to be in. Later in the year we will be holding a parent information evening.
Netball Powerhouse!
A huge congratulations to our Super 6 netball teams who represented our school with such skill and determination. We're so proud of your hard work and positive sportsmanship! Competing in the Super 6 competition is a great opportunity to test our sporting skills levels against the other Intermediates.
Tough Guy Grit!
Well done to the students of the Sports Academy and other students who took on the challenge of the Tough Guy race. Although there was not a lot of mud around, everyone had a great time. Mr Easson was incredibly proud of all of you as you demonstrated perseverance and teamwork! Well done.
Science Fair Fever!
The Science Fair has been the talk of the school this term! Our classrooms are buzzing with creativity and excitement as students prepare to showcase their scientific discoveries to parents and whānau. Mark your calendars – you won't want to miss it!
It's truly inspiring to see all our students, from the netball court to the science lab, demonstrating such enthusiasm and passion. Keep shining, NIS!
Ngā mihi nui,
Tim Van Zyl

FUN RUN
We’re holding the School Fun Run as a major fundraising event this year! The event will be held on Wednesday 3rd July. We are hoping to raise $15,000.00 which will pay to support our AIMS GAMES athletes as they compete at this years international tournament in Tauranga, September 7th - 13th.
Your child should have taken home a sponsorship form to collect sponsors. Once you have the form, you should sign up for a Student Profile Page at www.schoolfundraising.co.nz. You’ll be able to access online fundraising from here.
Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward, and the more money you raise the better the reward, and the more you help the school! We’re wanting all students to participate and we’re organising a great day for our community, so we’d love everyone to come down to support the kids.
If you have any questions about the Fun Run please contact Mrs Benita Mareikura through the Office on 06-8356013 during work hours or email bmareikura@nis.school.nz. Thanks for supporting the school and we hope to see you at the event!
FREE PERIOD PRODUCTS
We are pleased to be able to supply free period pads and tampons to our students thanks to Office Max and the Ministry of Education. If you would like your child to be excluded from this, please let Mrs Davis know by emailing tdavis@nis.school.nz.
CELEBRATING OUR STUDENTS
NAPIER PIPE BAND
Our very own Kellan, in his first performance for The Napier Pipe Band! This was at the Napier RSA on the 19th May. So cool to see our kids out there in the community getting involved
PLAYGROUND REWARDS
Playground Rewards! Due to the excellent behaviour of our students in the playground, they have earned enough points for a no uniform day! This will be on Wednesday 12 June. There is no cost for this. Please note that our school rules in regards to dress standards still apply.
NETBALL
One of the best things to do is to get out of the office and watch our talented students play sports. Kudos to all our netball teams who played despite the wet and cold weather last week. You made NIS proud!
