Coupeville School District August 23, 2024

We Love Our Military Families!
Yesterday, Coupeville Middle School and High School held a special assembly to honor our Veterans. The event featured a powerful performance by the Washington State National Guard Rock Band and showcased the gratitude of our students and staff.
We were also touched by the community's outpouring of support. The streets of Coupeville were lined with beautiful displays of honor, a testament to the deep respect we hold for our Veterans and their families.
Remember, Monday is a holiday to honor our Veterans. Please take time to celebrate this day for those who have sacrificed and those who continue to serve.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and our community.
Respectfully,
Shannon Leatherwood, Superintendent

Transportation: Attention Please
At Coupeville School District, the safety of our students is essential. To enhance safety and improve the efficiency of student drop-offs and pick-ups, we are implementing a new procedure for the middle school loop.
Effective immediately, all family vehicles, regardless of whether you have a middle school or high school student, should use the high school loop and parking lot for drop-off and pick-up.
We have observed an increase in safety risks in the middle school loop due to congestion, limited visibility, and student movement around vehicles. By dedicating the middle school loop to buses and transit vehicles only, we can significantly reduce these risks and improve overall safety.
We understand that this change may require some adjustment. However, we believe it is essential to prioritize the safety of our students. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement this new procedure.
Thank you for your support.
Important Reminder from Transportation
Designated Individuals for Student Pickup at Bus Stops
As a reminder, district policy requires that students in 1st grade or lower must be met by a designated individual at the bus stop in order to be released from the bus.
To ensure the drivers can provide a safe and smooth transition, designated individuals must meet the student directly at the bus door upon arrival. If you need to arrange an alternative plan, please submit a written request to the Transportation Department for approval.
Key Reminders:
- Timeliness: Designated individuals should arrive at the bus stop 5–10 minutes before the scheduled arrival time.
- Student Release: Students will only be released to the designated individual who is present at the bus door.
- In Case of Absence: If a designated individual is not present, transportation staff will follow district protocols to ensure student safety.
