Our Mission: We prepare successful students for a better tomorrow!
From the Principal...
Welcome Back to a wonderful new year! The Jackson Elementary Staff are very excited to have students back in the classrooms. It has been a busy 3 weeks of school. Students are learning, growing, and developing their new skills. It is great to see everyone back in their seats and learning!
Free & Reduced Lunch Application:
In order to continue with our Title I funding, we need all families to fill out the application below. Although students still receive free breakfast & lunch each day, we are asking that ALL families fill out the application, using the link below.
We are using the Titan online Combination FRL/FEDS Combo Meal Application. Here is the link to the meal application and a QR Code is in the attachments:

Parent/Teacher Conferences:
This year, the district has added a fall break to the school calendar on October 14-18, 2024. Students will not attend school during that week. The following week is when we will hold Parent/Teacher Conferences.
All D11 schools were given the opportunity to decide when to hold their conferences. In order to make sure ALL families are able to participate in conferences, the Jackson Staff decided to hold our conferences on:
- October 22, 2024 @ 3:00pm-7:00pm
- October 23, 2024 @ 11:30am-7:00pm (Students ONLY at school from 7:50-11:30)
- October 24, 2024 @ 3:00-7:00pm
We will have family activities where all Jackson students can earn a $5 gift certificate to be used at the Book Fair. Look for schedules to come!
The ABC's of D11:
As we start the school year, the Board of Education would like for me to remind our families about the ABC's of D11 policies:
A-Attendance (Students may not miss more than 4 days a month, 10 in a school year.)
B-Behavior (Behavior matrix has been developed by the district for any and all students who do not follow safety rules and procedures. Schools will make/develop plans to support student success, alongside of parents/guardians.)
C-Cell Phone Policy (Elementary School-cell phones & wearable tech must remain off and in a student's backpack during school hours.)
The Jackson Staff truly believe in a partnership between home and school. Students will ONLY succeed when their is joint cooperation between the families and school staff. We look forward to a wonderful year!
Respectfully,
Sara G. Miller
Principal & AVID District Director

Music Notes
Music Class is off to a great start this year. Each grade has learned several new songs and games already! Ask your child to sing some of those songs for you. In addition, each grade has learned a lot about what makes music. Ask your child to explain the different parts of music and how those parts make music more exciting.

Time with our Social Worker, Mrs. James
Parents/Guardians
My name is Lauren James. I am so happy to be a part of the Jackson community as the new social worker this year!
With the new school year in full swing Jackson will start to have Care & Share food bags available to families again. The food bags will be available in the next couple of weeks so please reach out to myself or your students teacher to get on the list.
Media Moments with Mrs. Sobecki
Welcome back to a new school year at Jackson Elementary Media Center! We have been busy in the library! By this time all students should have a device checked out and these devices are staying at school. We have started checking out library books. The Kinder-2nd graders can check out one book for one week. The 3rd-5th graders can check out two books for two weeks.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Sobecki (rhonda.sobecki@d11.org) or 719-328-5824) in your Media Center.
Welcome to Mrs. Von
Mrs. Von is helping us this year in the Media Center with library and technology support. Thank you Mrs. Von!
Kids Collection on Display
We will offer the students the opportunity to display their collections from home in the Media Center display cases. The children really enjoy sharing their collections with their classmates and the display cases are locked. To sign up call Mrs. Sobecki (719-328-5824) or send an email to rhonda.sobecki@d11.org. Please help make this a special way to let your child share their interest or hobby at school.
Little Library Available at Jackson Elementary
Please feel free to see what books are available in our Little Library out front of Jackson! You can also leave a book that you have finished for the next person.
(Thank you to Mr. Thompson-Perrin for continuing to take care of our Little Library! We can't do it without you!)
PreK-2nd Back to School Night
Thank you to all of our families who attended our Prek-2nd grade Back to School Night! We hope it was a good experience for you to hear from your child's teacher, see your child's classroom, and to be able to ask questions.
(3rd-5th grade will be in January!)

Free and Reduced Lunch Application
Good Morning,
Another new school year has started again!
We are using the Titan online Combination FRL/FEDS Combo Meal Application as we did last school year. Here is the link to the meal application and a QR Code is in the attachments:
https://linqconnect.com/public/meal-application/new?identifier=JX9G3Q
All students at District 11 schools who serve meals in their cafeteria will eat for free regardless of the eligibility status should a household apply. The State of Colorado provides meals for students who participate in the National School Lunch Program under the Healthy School Meals for All program. Some of the schools/programs not participating with Food and Nutrition Services include Eastlake High School, Community Prep, Spark Online Academy and Homeschool Enrichment. If a school is not listed in the drop down when adding a student, they will not be a participating school.
We have our list of schools from the Colorado Department of Education that are considered Community Eligible Program (CEP) schools or normal operating schools. The important piece here is that ALL households at any school in the “drop down” list in the application process can apply regardless of CDE’s designation of a school. Even though the students are eating their meals for free, other benefits to apply are:
- Possible reduction of fees for programs both within District 11 and outside of District 11
- Qualified students will receive Summer Electronic Benefits (S-EBT) in the summer when school is not in session
- Additional funding for schools and District 11 thereby providing an enhanced educational experience for students
A table detailing CEP and FRL schools is on the Food and Nutrition Services web page in the Healthy School Meals for all section. To reiterate, all households can apply regardless of CEP or non-CEP designations.
You may contact me if you have any further questions.
