Do you know a child who will be five years old on or before August 31? Maybe it's your neighbor, friend or even your own child. Now’s the right time to enroll next year’s kindergarten students. The sooner you enroll, the better we can keep you informed and get prepared for your child to join us. Get information on what documents you need and how to enroll -- the process is all online at sumnersd.org/register.

To help welcome new kinders and their families, each of our elementary schools created virtual tours, which includes a school tour and staff introduction. Watch each schools' video here.

Our PTO is now running a spring fundraiser. They are selling World's Finest Chocolate bars. They have the $1 bar variety boxes or the $2 bar and carton variety boxes available. Each box contains $60 worth of product. This fundraiser will run through 2/16. Money raised with this fundraiser will be used for our end of the year celebrations and for educational enrichment programs next year, such as Reflex and Generation Genius.

READY! for Kindergarten is a free program that offers age-appropriate targets, training and tools for parents and caregivers of children birth to age five that ensure success in school. These classes are typically funded for school districts, foundations and community organizations.

Registration open for winter sessions

Families who are new to Ready! For Kindergarten must attend a virtual orientation session: Feb. 17 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. A Zoom link will be emailed to you the day of your orientation.

Session dates:

• Wednesday, Feb. 23
• Tuesday, March 1 and/or
• Thursday, March 3

Time: All sessions are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Location: All sessions are held virtually through Zoom. Links will be emailed the day of your orientation/session.

Orientation (for first-time READY! for Kindergarten participants):

• Feb. 17: 6 - 6:30 p.m. via Zoom

• Parents or caregivers attend workshops specific to the age of their child.

• Class recommendation based on their birthdate and the year they will enter kindergarten (Birth to age 1, 1-2 years old, 2-3 years old, 3-4 years old, and 4-5 years old)

• Materials and information presented are tailored to the child’s age group. New materials and information provided at each seasonal session.

• Multiple dates are offered for family convenience.

• If you have multiple children, sign up for two dates or bring an additional adult to attend both workshops.

• READY! classes are for parents. One set of handouts and a tool kit is provided for each child, but an adult must attend the class to receive the materials. We cannot give you tools for someone else's child.

• Sumner-Bonney Lake School District provides the READY! Program FREE to families within the school district boundaries. Out of district families are required to pay a one time $25 fee for Orientation Materials and a $60 fee for each class attended to cover the costs of the learning tool kits.
