Message From Principal Kinney
Good Afternoon
As we sit on the brink of a long weekend It is important that our students are reminded about why they have Monday off. Today our Veteran's Day ceremony helped serve this purpose. I want to give a big shout out to our students who were amazing and to all of Fowler's staff for helping organize, manage and execute today's event. It was an all hands on deck operation. Please take a look at this link to view our slide presentation that has many of the veterans that are connected to Fowler students and staff. In the days ahead, we will, for the first time ever, be able to share with you a full video of what this day looked like here at Fowler. Thank you veterans for keeping us safe!
Candy For The Troops: Well done Fowler. Ms. Padalino shipped off 6 paper boxes (they are pretty big in size) off to be shipped to our veterans who are serving over seas. To no big surprise, our students and families stepped up big time!
Student Club Reminder: Student clubs are not a drop in and leave when you want opportunity. Students who arrive at a club are expected to stay for the duration of the time unless there is a note from a caregiver excusing the student to leave early.
Parent/Caregiver resources 24/7: Middlesex Partnership for Youth Inc, a local organization with a longstanding relationship with local schools and community organizations and is committed to helping students, schools and families by providing trainings and other resources to promote the wellbeing of youth. Here is a link to a specific page that provides resources for families and caregivers.
No School Reminders:
- November 11th- Veterans' Day- NO SCHOOL
- November 27-29- Thanksgiving Break- NO SCHOOL
Nature’s Classroom: In a few weeks, our Grade 8 students will be traveling to Nature's Classroom, followed later in the year by our Grade 7 students. You may wonder why both grades are attending this year. Due to COVID-19, the Grade 7 students who missed their trip at that time were allowed to go during Grade 8. This arrangement has continued for the last few years, but we want to return the trip back to Grade 7. To achieve this, we are doubling up this year so that we can reestablish this experience as a Grade 7 tradition. This means there will be twice as many students attending. Ms. Sullivan (Grade 7 ELA) and Ms. Travers (Grade 7 Science) have worked incredibly hard to make this happen. They have organized fundraisers to help cover costs and provide scholarships for those in need. Our mission is clear: every single child who wishes to go, regardless of their ability to pay, will have the opportunity to attend. This has always been the goal of this trip. In the coming days, you may be approached by a Grade 7 or 8 student with a fundraising opportunity from Meadow Farms. There will be plenty of great items for sale, and 35% of all sales will go back to funding our Nature's Classroom trips. I am also doing my part! I have set up an account specifically for donations. Yes, you can choose to buy "nothing" for any amount you wish to donate! When you log into my sales account, simply select "donate" from the drop-down list. This is a unique opportunity to contribute without purchasing a physical item. My personal goal is to raise $2,000. It may seem ambitious, but I believe it is achievable! Please consider donating to the Fowler Nature's Classroom Scholarship Fund. Thank you for your support!
