📅 Attendance 2024-2025
Help Us Improve Our Attendance
As we begin the second half of the 2024-2025 school year, we appreciate your support in bringing students to school everyday on time. We would like to share some of our chronic absenteeism data for the first half of the school year. First, let's define chronic absenteeism.
Chronic Absenteeism: missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions.
There are 180 days of school every year. There have been 88 days of school up to our December break. If your student has missed 8 or more days of school, they are currently chronically absent. To help improve their attendance, let's work together this second half of the school year to get them to school on time and everyday. Below you will see chronic absenteeism data for our school and each grade level. You will also see some infographics on why attendance is important.
Thank you for your collaboration. Please feel free to reach out if you need support on improving your student's attendance.
🎯 VV Attendance: 10.9% Chronic Absenteeism
TK & K: 14.8% Chronic Absenteeism
1st Grade: 10% Chronic Absenteeism
2nd Grade: 12.8% Chronic Absenteeism
3rd Grade: 8.9% Chronic Absenteeism
4th Grade: 6.2% Chronic Absenteeism
5th Grade: 11.6% Chronic Absenteeism
📝Message from our Superintendent, Dr. Byrne📢
Dear families,
Dear Alvord Families,
Alvord Unified School District is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students and families, regardless of immigration status. Our schools are places of learning where every child is valued and supported.
We understand that immigration issues can be a source of stress and uncertainty for many families. It is important to stay informed and aware of the resources available to help you navigate these challenges safely. Unfortunately, immigration-related scams are becoming increasingly common, and we want to ensure our families have the information needed to protect themselves from fraudulent activities. We have added additional resources for our community on our website under the Family Engagement Tab or click HERE.
Please take a moment to review these important tips to avoid immigration scams:
- Do Not Trust Unverified Individuals or Promises: Be cautious of individuals who claim they can expedite your immigration process for a fee or guarantee specific outcomes.
- Only Work with Licensed Professionals: Seek assistance from qualified immigration attorneys or accredited representatives authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice.
- Protect Your Personal Information: Never share sensitive documents or personal details with unauthorized individuals or organizations.
- Beware of Fake Websites and Communications: Scammers often create fake websites or send fraudulent emails pretending to be official government agencies. Always verify information through official government websites such as www.ca.gov/immigration/.
- Know Your Rights: You have the right to seek legal counsel and should never feel pressured into signing documents you do not understand.

We remain steadfast in our mission to support our students and families. If you have any concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your school site or the Family Engagement Office at (951) 509-5163.
Thank you for being a valued part of our school community. We appreciate your trust and partnership in ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all.
