Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Weekly Updates and Reminders October 7-October 11
Hello Hamilton Families!
Well it looks like we may have a fall coming! I hope you are enjoying some cooler weather and all the fall feels this time of year!
PBIS-Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
Each month we focus on a specific behavior with our students and this month is "Be a Buddy-Not A Bully". We had an assembly to teach students what bullying is and what it isn't and then teachers reinforce this information through out the month with classroom lessons. Students can also earn extra Dojo points for showing the spotlight behavior. Students and parents often confuse a mean moment with bullying behavior. Bullying is defined as
A bully is a person who purposely tries to hurt others by:
· Making them feel uncomfortable.
· Hurting them by kicking, hitting, pushing, tripping, etc.
· Name-calling.
· Spreading nasty rumors.
The bully hurts the other person over and over.
The person being bullied feels that he or she can do nothing to stop it:
· He or she might feel smaller or weaker than the bully.
· He or she might feel outnumbered by the bully and the bully's friends.
· He or she might feel there is no help:
· No one to talk to.
· No one is standing up for him or her.
· He or she often feels very sad, but does not know how to change the situation.
The essential key for this to be considered bullying is that it is repeated over and over, not just once or twice and there has to be intention to do harm.
Please talk with your child about how they are being a buddy!
Food & Hygiene Pantry
Hamilton Food Pantry: Hamilton has a free food and hygiene pantry for our Hamilton community! If you or someone you know would benefit from our supply please call the office and set a time to come get food and supplies from our pantry!
Staff communication
Please remember that when you contact a staff member they will get back to you by the next school day. During the day when staff are engaged in teaching and learning activities we can not stop and respond to Dojo until prep time or the end of the day. And occasionally staff members don't get a prep time due to parent meetings, IEP's, or absent specials teachers.

Halloween Parade
We will have our annual Halloween parade on Halloween at 10 am! Parents are welcome to come watch the parade. Students will stay with their class and parade around outside (as long as its not raining) parents may not walk in the parade with your child. We ask that all visitors line up outside on the grass around the school as we will walk the side walk all the way around the school. Students are encouraged to dress up in school appropriate costume's with no weapons. We have a few costumes that were donated, if your child needs a costume reach out to your child's teacher. We are also asking for candy donations for our parade. If you are able to donate, just send it in with your child or drop it off at the office. We greatly appreciate your support!

If you are not getting those emails please notify me right away. Also when available I will make a class Dojo post with the route information.
