A Week of Celebration, Connection, and Creativity Across Maple Run
Welcome Back!
We had a fantastic first week back after the winter break, and it’s wonderful to see our schools buzzing with activity again. I hope everyone had an opportunity to rest, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy what brings you happiness during this special season—my favorite time of the year! Whether it’s skiing, enjoying the snow, or simply relaxing, winter offers so much to appreciate.
Budget Conversations Continue
This past week was productive as we continued our work on the FY26 budget. On Monday, I had the opportunity to meet with legislators to discuss our financial plans and priorities. We also held a budget discussion with the community at City School, and the Board had a meaningful meeting to review our progress. Additionally, I met with staff members from FCS, BFA, SACS, and SATEC, as well as the Franklin County Rotary Club, to share updates and gather input. These conversations are crucial as we work together to build a budget that supports our students, staff, and community.
Celebrating Student Creativity
Last week, the Maple Run Art Show at the Collins Perley Sports & Fitness Center showcased the incredible talent of our students. Artwork from every school in the district was displayed, highlighting a wide range of mediums and creativity. The event was a beautiful testament to the artistic excellence and hard work of our students and teachers. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this amazing exhibit!
As we move forward into the new year, I am excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead. Together, we will continue to strengthen our district, celebrate our successes, and support one another. Thank you for being part of the Maple Run community!

Spotlight on SATEC Educator: Nick Allen
Nick Allen – Inspiring Students Through Music at SATEC
Episode 16: Nick Allen – Inspiring Students Through Music at SATEC
In this episode of Tap Into Maple Run, we’re excited to feature Nick Allen, the talented band director and general music teacher at Saint Albans Town Educational Center (SATEC). Nick shares how he connects with his students, nurtures their love for music, and inspires creativity through a variety of musical opportunities.
This year, Nick introduced an exciting new program: the lunchtime SATEC Rock Band, an idea sparked by his students’ enthusiasm. Whether teaching band, general music classes, private lessons, or leading the Rock Band, Nick is passionate about fostering creativity, teamwork, and musical exploration among his students.
Originally from the coast of Maine, Nick was drawn to the mountains and has found Vermont to be the perfect place to share his love of learning and passion for music while raising his young family. When he’s not teaching, Nick loves spending time with his wife and daughter. Fun fact: Nick was the first person in his family to attend college, and he even holds a CDL!
Tune in to hear Nick’s inspiring journey as an educator, his dedication to students, and how he’s enriching the SATEC community through music.
