August Highlights
Orientation & Open House
BHS was excited to welcome the Class of 2028 and new students into the building for Orientation on July 29th and 30th! Students and parents received important information about Brandon High, dress code, Powerschool and Canvas, and our new cell phone policy. Students were also able to review their schedules and tour the building.
We opened our doors to all students and families for Open House on August 1st! Students were able to meet their teachers and get the inside scoop on their classes!
The First Week
Your counselors were busy during August with welcoming students, meeting with parents, and schedule changes! We ended the first two weeks with almost 1,000 schedule change requests, but we survived!
September Highlights
Progress Reports & Report Cards
We're almost halfway through the semester, and progress reports were available on September 4th. Report cards will be available in PowerSchool on October 17th! Parents, be sure to keep checking PowerSchool and Canvas to stay on top of your student's grades, assignments, and assessments!
ASVAB
The ASVAB was given to interested students on September 16th. The ASVAB measures abilities and helps predict future successes. For more information, visit https://www.asvabprogram.com/
Pep Rallies & Dress Up Days
We love dressing up with the students for pep rallies, and the year has been full of FUN! From partying in the USA to rhyming without reason, we always have a good time in the counseling office! We're looking forward to the rest of the season!
Senior Information
Senior Parent Night
We held a senior parent meeting on June 20th. We reminded seniors and parents of upcoming deadlines, fees, and Brian Thomas from Get2College spoke about college selection, financial aid, etc. If you missed the meeting, the PowerPoint and Important Dates link can be found using the "BHS Senior Information" button below.
Senior Meetings
We met with our seniors individually from August 19th until September 19th. We discussed their schedule, graduation plan, and postsecondary plans. We have also been introducing them to our Career Coach, Mrs. Lewis. Mrs. Lewis meets with seniors individually to give aptitude tests, give interest assessments, and helps narrow down career interests.
BHS Graduation Fee
The BHS graduation fee covers the cost of the diploma, the diploma cover, and the cost of renting the coliseum. The deadline to pay the graduation fee without a late fee was September 26th.
Payments can be made online (preferred method), cash, or check (made out to Brandon High School).
Payments made between August 1st and August 16th will be discounted to $80.
Payments made between August 17th and September 26th will be the normal price of $85.
Payments made after September 26th will incur a $15 late fee totaling to $100.
Students who are not participating in the graduation ceremony will pay a $25 fee.
Online payments are accepted via MySchoolBucks. Links will be posted on the BHS Website and emailed to all senior parents on August 1st. If you do not have a MySchoolBucks account or need assistance with your existing account, please CLICK HERE.
Herff Jones Cap & Gown Fee
Seniors must order their cap and gown through Herff Jones in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. This is a separate fee from the BHS Graduation Fee. Herff Jones hosted an assembly for seniors on September 19th for information on how to order graduation regalia, graduation invitations, and senior swag. Herff Jones returned on October 1st to take in-person orders. Online orders can be made on gradsouth.com.
Financial Aid Information
The BHS Counselors are hosting a Financial Aid Day in the BHS Library on Wednesday, October 30th from 8am until 3pm. Seniors were sent an email from Mrs. Daniels on how to book an appointment slot! Information for parents will be coming soon, so please continue to check your emails!

All AP students (unless taking an AP course next semester) should have joined AP Classroom using the join code received from their AP teacher. AP Classroom is full of additional resources for the course and the exam.
