Principal's Message
ORCA Families,
Our 3rd- 6th grade students have worked very hard for the past two weeks to complete the CAASPP state testing. Students who were absent during testing will continue making up the exam this week until completed.
All students will be attending a presentation about the new Food Waste program our school will be participating in, courtesy of our Nutrition Services department.
Ms. Herrera

CAASPP Reminder (3rd-6th grade)
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support.
Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website.
Student Attendance
Students are considered “chronically absent” when they miss 18 days or more in a school year. When students are chronically absent, research shows that poor attendance leads to low academic achievement and high dropout rates. If students are not present, they cannot learn. Please ensure your child is attending school every day and on time.
PBIS School-Wide Weekly Expectations
Please remind your child to walk quietly in line, stay on appropriate paths, and be attentive by looking forward.
