• January 6th First day Back and Welcome back assembly with Cool Speak.
• January 8th Staff meeting after school 4:15-5:15 pm - bring clarifying questions or concerns as we enter the new semester.
• Friday January 10th is a work day for all employees (In Service PD Day)

Athletics This Week:

Happy New Year! 🎉 I hope you all had a restful and joyful holiday season filled with moments of connection and celebration. I hope the new year brings you joy, opportunity and good health.

I am excited to enter the Spring Semester as this is the time we start planning next school year, and having that opportunity is very promising for SHS! We will be busy planning meetings for the master schedule, the new graduation requirements, and student course selection. We also may be requesting meetings with individual teachers about teaching assignments for the 25-26 school year between February and March. I will be at the CTE workshops Jan 13-15th to work on our application for next year. If you are a CTE teacher and have ideas for your program I will need quotes for expenses tied to those goals as we write the budget application for next year.

For most teachers who are Level I-II we will be completing drop in observations this semester. Please submit lesson plans for Domain I scoring.

If you need support of any kind please schedule a meeting with myself or Joni Mauldin as soon as possible. We are here to help you grow and support improving instruction for our students.

Our Schoolwide Goals:

1. Increase Attendance – Helping students feel motivated, supported, and excited to come to school every day.
2. Improve School Climate – Creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where every student feels valued, connected, and ready to learn.
3. Increase Academic Performance- provide layered learning daily that requires students to read something, discuss then write and apply learning. This improves rigor and the learning responsibility onto students vs the teacher feeding information. (Requiring note-taking in all classes will up our rigor game! This includes electives.)

I encourage you to watch the video below to see the powerful impact that Samantha Gonzales' role plays in our school and impact it has on students' lives. Her role is exactly what this video describes and while sometimes it is not clear what she does with students this "The Push" video of Mr. Smith hit the nail on the head for her daily role. Thank you Samantha for all the problem solving, parenting, de-escalation, stability & support you provide for our students.
