Principal Zeman's Notes
September 8, 2023
What a week! We kicked off the first week of school with much excitement and anticipation. It was a great first week, and we celebrated with Dilly Bars at the end of the day on Friday. Thank you for your continued support, and we appreciate being able to serve your students.
Picture Makeup Day (NOT RETAKE DAY)
Our picture makeup day is next Wednesday, September 13 during lunches. Picture makeups are for students who did not have their picture taken during Open House. This is NOT our retake day! Picture retakes will take place on Monday, October 16. ALL students will get their picture taken for school IDs and the yearbook.

Attendance
During our VMS Grade-Level Discipline Discussions on September 6, Mrs. Ohlgren informed the students that they are responsible for monitoring their own attendance, as they will not be called to the Main Office to clear up tardies or absences. Please remind your student to verify their attendance in Campus Student at least once a week, if not daily. If there is an error, students must contact their teacher(s) to rectify it.
Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedure
To keep traffic flowing and expedite drop off and pick up wait times, please enter the VMS parking lot from School Street. Do NOT enter from Proctor Avenue.
The reason for this is twofold:
If you enter from Proctor Avenue, you will have to circle into traffic entering the correct direction and it will back things up.
We have specialized transportation that enters from Proctor Avenue. They need to get in and out of the parking lot quickly.
A couple more reminders:
Keep moving forward as far as you can when dropping off. This helps keep traffic flowing.
Do not drop students off in the lot or drive through lanes. We want to avoid students crossing between cars.

Forgotten Items
Please remind students to bring books and resources to school each day, including Chromebooks. If a student calls a parent to bring a forgotten item to school, it is the student’s responsibility to come to the office between classes to pick the item up. We will not deliver the item to class or send a message to the student as this disrupts the class.
