Spring Term - 30th January 2025

Message from the Head of School
Dear Parents/Carers,
Get your dancing shoes ready because tomorrow is our annual school disco! There is a neon theme, so I look forward to seeing all the brightly coloured outfits and accessories. Please ensure you have checked the timings of the event below. Once we have registered the children into the school building, the gates will be locked and we are unable to let children in after this so please be on time! Mobile phones must not be brought to the disco and all children must be collected by an adult. I hope they all have a brilliant time and thank you to HPPA for organising such a great event.
As the weather starts to improve, this is a great opportunity to have a sort out of any unwanted clothing at home. On the 11th February, we have our highly successful Rags2Riches collection. The information for this term's collection is further down. Please ensure all bags are brought to the honeycomb at drop off. Bags are no longer being sent home so please bag up your unwanted clothing in household black bags and tie the top.
Last week the Executive Leadership team met with wrap around care providers at The Linden Club, Munchies and Aston Club to explore what is on offer for our children and the current vacancies. It was reassuring to hear that although some sessions are full, there are spaces available across the three providers every morning and afternoon.
We talk to parents alot about the importance of reading at primary school. A great way to inspire your children is to visit and purchase a book from the School Book fair which arrives next week. Not only can you select an exciting new text but also the school benefits from any purchases that are made. The book fair will take place in the Rose Hall on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after school.
I hope you and your family have a lovely weekend.
Mr J James

Children's Mental Health Week
3rd – 9th February 2025 is Children’s Mental Health Week. This week is run by children’s mental health charity ‘Place2Be’. The focus is to raise awareness of the importance of children and young people’s mental health.
This year’s theme is ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’.
‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’ is about empowering and encouraging children and young people to embrace self-awareness and explore what this means to them. By spending time to acknowledge and understand their emotions children will be able to grow and develop resilience to cope with obstacles that life throws at them. Children’s Mental Health week allows pupils the opportunity to discuss their emotions, develop strategies to build their resilience, become more self-aware and form stronger connections with others.
This week will begin by introducing the topic of Mental Health and wellbeing to the children in an assembly. During the week, pupils will take part in a PSHE lesson where they can discuss the topic of mental health and the range of emotions that they may feel on a day to day basis.

Yr3 and Yr6 - Author Visit - Jamie Hammond
On the 4th March, year 3 and 6 will be having an author come in to present to them all about his new book, grumpfort.
Mo, the worst monster hunter ever, in this hilarious and highly illustrated adventure. Mo never wanted to be a Warden - protecting the village of Bogfoss from the terrifying monsters in the woods is way too scary. But when he's beaten up by a goblin on his first patrol, he knows he has to prove himself.
So he sets out into the forbidden woods to catch himself a monster and make himself a hero. Instead he stumbles into GRUMPFORT, a secret monster fortress with a very big problem. The fearsome Grumpsnatcher is kidnapping the other monsters - and suddenly Mo's on a monster-hunt with a troll, a gnome and a fire-breathing snotwoggle to stop it!
If you would like to purchase a copy of Jamie's book, you can do so on Arbor. Jamie will be signing books on the day.
Year 5 News
Year 5 pupils enjoyed practical science demonstrations provided by Hampton School last week. The children got a taste of what it is like to be a secondary school scientist. They investigated endothermic and exothermic reactions by measuring the temperature of an effervescent vitamins and the reaction between hydroclauric acid and magnesium. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the Hampton school staff were very complimentary of our students.
Hampton Library
During the spring term, lots of classes will be heading to Hampton library. To be able to take home books during this trip, children will need to have a library card. If your child does not have a library card, please fill in the form and hand to your class teacher. The card can then be set up at the library during the trip.
