Henrietta Lacks Elementary
June 2024

Happy summer break Henrietta Lacks Elementary families! We hope everyone is enjoying time with family and friends, and staying cool during this heat wave.
We are thrilled to announce that we recently had the first of many staff retreats, where the Henrietta Lacks Elementary teachers came together and did some amazing work in preparation to open the school. Among the top outcomes of the day were building relationships, continuing to review and revise the vision and values for Henrietta Lacks Elementary, and collaborating to ensure systems are in place to bring the vision and values to life during the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. Together, we set ambitious goals for Henrietta Lacks Elementary!
We continue to be beyond impressed by the staffs' dedication to our school, students, and community. Each and every staff member was eager and excited to get started and make learning an incredible experience for our children. There was an unwavering commitment to the philosophy that "kids can," and we know this is the right team of people to do this important work.
We remain eager to collaborate with all of you to make every day an adventure in learning, where students, community members, and teachers alike look forward to coming to school. The Henrietta Lacks Elementary staff is invested in infusing each classroom with energy, curiosity, and a love for discovery, by creating learning opportunities that are relevant, challenging, and engaging. This past week's work makes us even more excited to open the doors of Henrietta Lacks Elementary in August. However, until then, enjoy your summers and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out if your family needs anything.
