Message from the Principal
Dear Otay Ranch High School Community,
I hope this message finds you refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to embrace the opportunities of a new semester. As we return to The Ranch, I trust that your winter break was a time of rest, peace, and connection with loved ones.
The recent devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles County serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of our surroundings and the importance of gratitude. In times like these, it is essential to reflect on how fortunate we are to have our school, our community, and each other. Let us keep those affected in our thoughts and offer support however we can.
The start of the second semester presents a unique opportunity—a chance for a fresh start. Whether it’s improving academically, setting new personal goals, or fostering stronger connections with peers and teachers, this is your time to refocus and realign. Let’s commit to making the most of this new beginning, striving for excellence and growth in all that we do.
Welcome back, and let’s make this semester one filled with learning, kindness, Mustang pride and a renewed commitment to the core values of Belonging, Learning, Unity and Empathy!

How to See Your Class Schedule
In preparation for Tuesday, the first day of the second semester, please review the important information below.
* Tuesday's periods are 1, 2, and 3 with ELP 1. Students are expected to look up their first period class through Infinite Campus Monday evening to see where they should report in the morning. Directions on how to access class schedules can be found here: drive.google.com/file/d/1F0Woi62jadD_gJFGMz994mpXV-eJzIVQ/view
* You may also access your first period class Tuesday morning either by the library, 300 Rodeo, or Pavilion. Posters with QR codes will be displayed for each grade level.
* Note that no class changes will be made except to correct an error such as duplicate classes, incorrect level placement, missing a period on the first day, or you already earned a credit for the course. The current schedules are tentative and subject to change based on balancing needs. Requests for a teacher change or period change will not be granted.

Tutoring Schedule...
Our Monday through Friday morning tutoring will begin Tuesday, January 14. Morning tutoring runs from 7:25 am to 8:25 am.
After school tutoring times and days will be announced in the next few weeks, please check back for detailed information.

Join Us for AP Student and Parent Info Night!
Dear Students and Parents,
You’re invited to attend our AP Student and Parent Info Night to learn everything you need to know about Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams! This informative session will cover:
An overview of the College Board and its resources.
Financial Aid information to help with exam costs.
Details about APTS, the invoice company we use for registration.
Important deadlines:
Late registration deadline: February 28, 2024.
Late exam requests must be made by April 10, 2024.
AP exam dates: May 5-16 (with late testing from May 19-23).
The exciting introduction of 28 digital exams this year.
Information about AP courses and exams offered for the next school year and how to register.
This is a valuable opportunity to ensure you’re prepared and informed about the AP process.

Message to Students and Parents/Guardians: Cell Phone Use Policy Reminder
As we continue our academic journey together, we want to remind everyone of our cell phone use policy at Otay Ranch High School. To maintain a focused learning environment, cell phones should be turned off and stored away during class time, unless specifically permitted by your classroom teacher. This policy helps minimize distractions and supports our commitment to LEARNIG and academic excellence.
This policy is an essential part of upholding our core values of BLUE: Belonging, Learning, Unity, and Empathy. By following the cell phone policy, students demonstrate a commitment to their LEARNING and respect for the educational environment.
Students are allowed to use their phones during passing periods and lunch, but during instructional time, phones should not be visible or in use.
Remember, staying focused in class not only benefits your own learning but also supports the unity and belonging of our entire school community. Let's work together to create a space where everyone can thrive academically and feel valued.

Student Parking Registration
Mustangs,
To increase our efforts in ensuring the safety of our campus, we began issuing student parking permits at the ASB Finance windows (the ones that face the main office).
In order to get a parking permit, you will need to fill out the following registration form: Parking Permit Registration
(You must sign in with your Student Google Account)
After the form is completely filled out, you may come to the Finance windows and show your Valid Driver License. You will then be issued a parking permit that must be hung on your rear view mirror anytime you park on campus.
After a two week grace period, any car parked in student parking lots without a student parking permit will be subject to be being towed at the owner’s expense.
