NTZB Parent Bulletin
May 13, 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello New Tech Families,
It is hard to believe this is the final parent bulletin for the 2021-22 school year! I am so proud of the resiliency of our students and staff. This was a year filled with challenges and difficulty; however, our school community pushed through, and we are emerging stronger than ever! I look forward to our senior events next week and the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 10:00 am in the Zion Benton Performing Arts Center. All other students will finish this year next week, with final exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please see this bulletin for details about all relevant end of the year events. Throughout this year the School Improvement Planning team met repeatedly and worked to develop new curricular options, student choice in electives, and a new daily bell schedule. Please know that these changes will begin with the 2022-23 school year and we will send more details as the new school year approaches.
I hope students enjoy their well-deserved summer break and, if interested, check out the D126 summer school offerings! I hope every family gets the opportunity this summer to spend quality time together. Time really moves quickly, and I encourage all to slow down and enjoy one another over the long summer days! It has been a pleasure serving this community as the principal at New Tech and as always, I look forward to creating more great days for our students and staff next year!
In partnership,
Bonnie Felske

CELEBRATING OUR LAKE COUNTY TECH CAMPUS STUDENTS
Curious about the Lake County Tech Campus? Explore the link for more information.
Research studies show that educators spend the first 4-6 weeks of a new school year reteaching students skills they lost over the summer. The challenges of Covid have made this "summer slide" even more problematic.
Reading for 2-3 hours a weeks has shown to combat the summer learning loss and as a librarian, I cannot think of a better way to spend the summer! New Tech does not have a required Summer Reading program; however, encourage your students to register for my Summer Reading Challenge (details coming soon). And don't forget to model this behavior. Put down the phone, turn off the television, and head to the Zion-Benton Public Library to load up for the summer!
Happy Reading,
Ms. Jackson
