Message from Stonehedge Elementary School Principal
Happy Friday, Stonehedge! It is the last day of February and the sun is shining!
We have had a busy week. On top of our typically daily learning activities, we had some additional opportunities as well. We announced our One School, One Book title. (You'll have to ask your child about that!!! I don't want to ruin any surprises they might have to share with you.) Several of our Kindergarten classes took a virtual trip to a farm to learn more about how a dairy farm works. Our 4th grade orchestra students went to WGIS for an introduction to WGIS orchestra activity. Students in Robotics Club enjoyed another fun afternoon. This morning on the announcements we celebrated the beginning of Ramadan with two of our students sharing information with our entire school. AND, we are looking forward to the Cultural Fair at the HS tomorrow from 12-3!
As I mentioned, thanks to the PTA, our entire Stonehedge Community will be coming together to read the same book for our One School, One Book Event. Books will be coming home next week. We'll start reading on Monday, March 10th.
A note to families who are dropping students off for band or orchestra in the mornings:
Students coming for Band and Orchestra should come at 8 AM. Please do not drop students off before 8 AM. Thank you for your support.
Best-
Amanda

Positivity Project
The P2 focus this week was humility. People with this trait do not brag about their accomplishments.
They let their actions speak for themselves.
Students in Mrs. Bailey's class explored this trait by reading parts of Ego, Sheep, and Knittery by Ryan Holiday to the school. This fun, rhyming book helps kids focus on what truly matters—the journey and learning process—rather than bragging and boasting.
I see your practice every day.
Getting stronger by the minute through hard work, grit and play."
I practice quite a ton!
Trying hard, giving my best to grow, while having fun."
Right now! Right here! It's true!
Earned confidence and kindness replace the boastful you."
like snow that melting in the sun,
like bats that hide by day."
and we're never too big.
We're never too little
or too grand to pick."
Try being humble now and then."
March Is PARP Month
Get ready for an exciting month of reading at Stonehedge as we celebrate PARP Month! PARP stands for Pick a Reading Partner, an initiative aimed at promoting and celebrating the joy of reading by encouraging students to choose a reading partner and enjoy books together. Stay tuned for fun activities such as One School, One Book, Scholastic Book Fair, and Open Library Night. We encourage everyone to participate in these literary adventures as we foster a love for reading within our school community. Let the pages turn and the imaginations soar during this special celebration of the joy of reading!

Families who were part of the initial selection process will be called in order of selection and informed:
whether their child has been accepted to the program, and
which site (including hours of the program) is available for their child;
OR
where their child is on the waiting list.
Families will be contacted by April 3-4, 2025.
If at any point after the initial selection process there are more students registered than seats available, students will be placed on the waiting list in the order that their registration was completed.
Transportation to and from the program is the responsibility of parents/guardians, and students must attend the program five days a week to maintain their seat.

Emergency Closing Information
Announcements about school closings, delayed openings, or early dismissal will be posted on the News Headlines section of the District website home page. They will also be broadcast on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the following stations which you can access by clicking here.
Also, ParentSquare communications software allows us to send emails, texts, and make phone calls. (Phone calls will be used for emergency situations only.)
Notification Regarding Chilly Conditions
With the changing weather, children are now wearing layers of cold-weather clothing. We kindly request that you label your child's outerwear. This small effort can be a big help in reuniting lost items with their rightful owners, and you'll be grateful you took the time to do so.
Please keep in mind that our students will continue to go outside for recess. If the temperature is 20 degrees Fahrenheit or above, recess can take place outside. If the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (this includes factoring in the WINDCHILL), recess will be indoors. Students should always have appropriate clothing for the weather: Coat, boots, snow pants, hat, and gloves.
Keep Sick Days Safe: When to Keep Your Child Home from School
As the colder weather sets in, it often brings with it an increase in seasonal illnesses. To help keep all students and staff healthy, we ask families to monitor for certain symptoms before sending children to school.
If your child displays any of the following, please keep them home:
- Fever of 100 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours
- Vomiting or Diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- Strep Throat. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school
- Bad cold with congestion or bad cough, especially if it has kept your child awake at night; and/or the cough is continuous and consistent throughout the day.
- Pink eye. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
If your child becomes ill at school and the nurse and/or teacher feel your child is too sick to benefit from school and is contagious to classmates and staff, you will be called to pick up your child.
