Valentine's Day
We will not be having a Valentine's Party at school, however, we will set aside a brief time at the end of the school day on Thursday, February 13, for students to exchange valentines. If you choose to send your child with valentines for their classmates, we ask that you send enough for all of the students in the homeroom and label them all "To: My Friend, From: (Your child's name)". This will aid in passing cards out quickly and easily. A small store-bought and individually packaged candy or food item may be included, but nothing large or home-made. We will not be eating any candy or treats at school. All Valentines will go home with your student so that you can make the best decision about if and/or what your child eats.

SmartWatch and Phone Reminder
We have noticed an increase in communication between students and parents during the school day and want to remind all students and parents that students are not allowed to use cell phones or watches for communication during the school day.
The CFISD Student Code of Conduct states that during the school day students are prohibited from using all telecommunication devices such as, but not limited to, cell phones and smart watches. The Code of Conduct states that such devices must be turned off and put away. Placing a cell phone or watch on silent/vibrate and text messaging is not considered '"turned off" and is prohibited. AT this time, Rennell allows students to wear smart watches to school and have them on, however, they must not be used for telecommunication including texting or phone calls during the school day including at lunch and recess.
A staff member who discovers a student in violation of these rules shall report the infraction to the appropriate school administrator. In accordance with TEC Section 37.082, the device may be confiscated and picked up by a parent or guardian once the administrative fee of $15 is collected.
Parents are requested not to contact their child during the school day via cell phone or by texting them to get them to respond on their watch. If an emergency occurs and parents need to speak to their child, please contact the school for assistance.
