May
Happy May everyone!
It is very hard to believe that it is almost the end of the school year already. At Winona, our entire staff commits to finishing the year strong and holding students to high expectations while celebrating all of the success that we are seeing.
We are eager to see all of the growth that our students have made this year in both reading and math. Our end of year iReady testing will be starting next week! After testing is complete, your child's report that shows not only their current performance, but also the growth that they have made, will be sent home to you. Please contact us if you have any questions about that information! We would like to encourage you to practice math facts and read A LOT over summer with your student. There is research to support that we can help eliminate a "summer slide" of growth that students make by having them engage in these two practices over summer! Please reach out to your student's teacher if you would like any resources or recommendations related to this.
Thank you to all of you who have been a part of our school family and community events this year! Career Day was a new event at Winona and was a huge success. We had so many students leaving the event saying, "I want to be a ......when I grow up!" The most special part of that day was having our own families coming to set up tables to teach Winona students about their career!
I cannot say thank you enough for sharing your children with us each day. Each year we enjoy continuing our relationships with our returning students and look forward to getting to know our new families. When we show up to work each day, we devote our time, energy, and love to supporting Every Kid, Every Day. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that your students maximize their time that they are with us and for being a part of our Winona family.
