Seniors,

We will have a final senior meeting Thursday, May 15th at 10:05 in the auditorium. This is the final time we will meet to review all end of the year and graduation information. If you are unable to attend the meeting, information will be posted in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom.

It was a day of rejoicing Wednesday afternoon when the faculty and staff at South Florence received the news officially announcing South Florence High School as a 2025 Palmetto's Finest School. South Florence won the recognition over two other schools in the high school division: Fort Dorchester High and Saint James High in Horry County.

The recognition is meant to honor schools with “exceptional student achievement, instruction programs, professional learning communities and school culture,” according to the association.

“The Palmetto’s Finest award winners exemplify innovation across South Carolina,” said SCASA Executive Director Beth Phibbs. “They set the standard of excellence by cultivating vibrant school environments with high expectations and providing numerous opportunities for academic enrichment.”

During exams there will be NO STUDENT SIGN OUTS. Students must remain in their testing classroom for the duration of exams. We are not able to call into classrooms to get students out of class.

If your child has an appointment that you need to sign him/her out for, a parent/guardian will need to come to school and see the receptionist at the front desk. We will not honor phone or email sign outs during exam week.

Music Technology 2H and 3H students recently completed recording projects, including a notable session with Nick Tokman at the SFHS studio. Mr. Tokman, known for his four seasons on "The Deadliest Catch," now travels the country as a motivational speaker, providing a unique opportunity for the students. Below is a link to the video.

In addition, we have recently released two student recordings. The first is “The Girl You Talk About”, an original song written and performed by F1CA student Cayden Brown. The second is a cover of Billy Joel's "Vienna" performed by F1CA student Kadryn Davis. Both recordings are available for listening via the provided video links below. Enjoy!

As a reminder, students are not allowed to have personal devices in their pockets between the hours of 8:30 and 3:30. Students may not wear Airpods or headphones while in school. We have seen an increase in personal device violations in the past week. Reminder to students that the second incident of personal device violation results in the device remaining in possession of a school administrator until a parent/guardian comes to pick it up.
