PRINCIPAL NEWS
Dear Davidson Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we approach the month of April, I would like to inform you about an important event that directly involves the academic progress of our elementary school students: the Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA). All students will in grades 3-6 will be taking the AASA. This statewide assessment is a tool that helps us evaluate the academic progress of our students, ensuring they meet the required educational standards. The purpose of the AASA is to measure students' understanding of key concepts and skills taught throughout the school year. It provides valuable insights into their academic strengths and areas that may require additional attention. The results help us tailor our instructional strategies and support services to better meet the diverse needs of our students. One significant factor that can impact the validity and reliability of the assessment results is attendance during testing days. Therefore, I would like to emphasize the importance of your child's presence during the testing period. Regular attendance ensures that each student has the opportunity to demonstrate their true capabilities and helps maintain the integrity of the assessment process.
To support your child during the testing period, here are some suggestions:
Establish a Consistent Routine: Ensure your child has a regular sleep schedule and healthy meals. We will be providing breakfast at school, as always. This is a great time to get in the habit of arriving at school by 7:15 AM so your child has plenty of time to eat. Encourage Positive Attitudes: Reinforce the importance of doing their best while maintaining a positive and confident attitude towards the assessment. Remind them that the test is a chance to showcase their learning.
Communication is Key: Keep the lines of communication open between you, your child, and their teachers. Encourage your child to ask questions if they need clarification on any topics. Provide a Supportive Environment: Create a calm and supportive atmosphere at home during the testing period. Minimize distractions and offer encouragement without adding undue pressure.
Celebrate Effort: Regardless of the results, acknowledge your child's efforts and hard work. Emphasize that learning is a continuous process, and the assessment is just one measure of their progress.
Your collaboration and support are invaluable to our shared goal of fostering a positive and effective learning environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming AASA, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the school administration. Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring the success and well-being of our students. Warmly, Sarah Andricopoulos, Proud Principal of Davidson
