CITIZENSHIP
Anti-Racism Awareness and Education - Inspiration Republic
We're very excited to announce that Inspiration Republic will be presenting to MCHS students important information about racism, the harmful effects it has on society, and how to deal with it through education. Together we must create a safe and caring environment for all.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about this event.
SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice - Peace and Mental Health
As we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 11-17), it's an opportunity to highlight how small gestures of kindness can positively impact our students' mental health and well-being. In the midst of academic pressures, social challenges, and personal growth, these simple acts can create a ripple effect of positivity, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of community.
Why It Matters for Mental Health: Random acts of kindness not only help others feel valued, but they also help the giver. Research shows that acts of kindness can lower stress, increase happiness, and promote feelings of connectedness. In a school environment, where stress and anxiety can sometimes feel overwhelming, practicing kindness can improve both mental and emotional health for students.
We believe that a culture of kindness nurtures emotional resilience and creates a supportive school community. For more creative ideas on how to spread kindness this week, check out Big Life Journal’s 31 Purposeful Acts of Kindness. Let’s work together to encourage our students to share their kindness, not just this week, but every day!

We'd like to take the time to mention that we offer a range of counselling services at MCHS. Whether it be for academic purposes or reasons other than their school work, students can get help. See the contact information below for details.

Student Council Events
February is a BUSY month for our members as they are helping our student body celebrate the month of LOVE! We have a silly fundraiser called the MatchMaker. Students filled out a fun questionnaire that we will send off later this week to get their results processed to see who their best friend matches are, most compatible matches, least compatible, birthday trivia and so on. MatchMaker results will be sold for $2 during Valentine's week. Everyone who buys their results will be entered in a PRIZE draw and receive candy!
We will be continuing our tradition of selling "Crush for a Crush", $2 each or 3 for $5, delivery on Valentine's Day and we are selling CONCERT tickets for $10 for Apotheosis! Popcorn and Iced Tea are included.
All items will be sold in Centre Court on the days posted in the attachment and the concert tickets will be available from the front office anytime as well.
All our proceeds will go towards funding our MAY DANCE!
And of course we ask the MCHS community to support PINK SHIRT Day on Wednesday, February 26th.
CONTESTS!!
MatchMaker: everyone who buys their MatchMaker results will be entered into a draw for a fun prize!
Pep Rally NOISY Food Bank Donation: everyone who brings in a box of dry pasta (or other non-perishable item that won't get destroyed while shaking) can use it for a noise maker during our Pep Rally on Friday AND enter their name into a draw when they donate it in the gym.

Would You Choose Fishing OR Jesus?
Gospel Reading Luke 5:1-11
5th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year C
I love fishing. (Actually, I mostly love catching fish. Rusty hooks, fish guts, windy weather...not my favorite parts.) BUT I've caught a few great fish. Never TWO BOATS FULL however! That's the choice Peter is faced with in today's reading. Jesus....or fish?
