NEW INFORMATION
Marking Period 1 Interim Reports
Today marks the Mid-Point of Marking Period 1. The teachers will take the opportunity to enter comments about your child(ren) and how they are doing with the content in each class. These comments are compiled in a Mid-Marking Period Interim Report. This will continue for each marking period of the school year.
If you have any questions about any of the comments on the Interim Report and/or grades that you see in the Grading module, please feel free to contact the teacher(s) for more information.
The Mid-Marking Period Interim Reports will be available for parents to view on Wednesday, October 9th at 12:00 PM.
Genesis Parent Portal Reminder
Afternoon Pick-Up
- Please arrange a meeting area with your child(ren) so that you can locate them efficiently.
- Please do not park in a spot labeled with a number and/or cross the parking lot during dismissal. The teacher-assigned spots are reserved for teacher use only and must be available from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm. Additionally, please do not use the visitor parking spots in front of CDW from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm to pick up your child(ren). Parking in these spots impacts the traffic pattern as vehicles are leaving Interschool Drive.
- Please do not park and/or exit your vehicle regardless of whether your child(ren) is at TBD or CDW.
- Please do not block designated emergency lanes that connect TBD and CDW.
- Please use BOTH LANES on Interschool Drive for Pick-Up. A staff member will be available to cross your child(ren).

Halloween at CDW
As in the past, the students and staff members are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school. We will recognize Halloween at CDW on Thursday, October 31st. Although teachers may engage students in Halloween-themed lessons/activities, we will follow a regular schedule.
When your child(ren) is choosing a Halloween costume, please remember:
The costume must allow the student to see to ensure safety.
If the costume has an accompanying weapon (knife, sword, gun, bow/arrow, etc.), your child may not be permitted to bring it to school.
Your child will wear the costume for the length of the school day so it should be something that allows him/her to walk and sit comfortably.
Costumes should comply with our dress code (Student Handbook).
Students do not have to wear a costume. Some students might opt to wear black and orange.

SAVE THE DATE: John Halligan to Deliver Ryan's Story for Students and Parents
On Monday, October 21st, CDW will be hosting John Halligan for Grade 7 and Grade 8 Student Assemblies during the school day and a Parent-Only Assembly at 7:00 PM in the CDW Lynch Gym. For the Parent Assembly, RSVP HERE.
"Ryan's Story" is an impactful and emotional presentation that sheds light on the devastating effects of bullying and cyberbullying. The presentation is based on the personal experience of John Halligan, who tragically lost his son Ryan to suicide as a result of relentless bullying. Through sharing his family's heartbreaking journey, Halligan aims to raise awareness, promote empathy, and empower parents to take action in preventing bullying.
During the presentation, John Halligan will discuss the warning signs of bullying, the role of technology in cyberbullying, and the importance of fostering open communication with children. He will also provide valuable insights into how parents can support their children, create a safe environment, and effectively address bullying incidents.

CDW Sports & Intramurals Participation Information
The Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (PPE) may ONLY be completed by a licensed physician, advanced practice nurse (APN), or physician assistant (PA) who has completed the Student-Athlete Cardiac Assessment professional development module. You must verify that your medical provider has completed this module before scheduling an appointment for a PPE. The licensed physician, APN, or PA who performs the physical examination must complete the remaining two pages of the PPE and insert the examination date on the PPE on page 3 and Clearance Form on page 4.
- A Health History Update Questionnaire is required if a physical examination was completed more than 90 days before the first day of tryouts/practice. The documents must be completed and signed by the student's parent/guardian. The student and parent/guardian must read/review the Sudden Cardiac Pamphlet and Concussion Policy Acknowledgement Form.
- If applicable, the Athlete with Special Needs Supplemental History Form is on page two of the PPE. The date of the required physical examination is at the top of the page.
- Forms will NOT be accepted with blanks so please have the medical provider fill out the form completely.
- The licensed physician, APN, or PA must also sign the certification statement on the PPE form attesting to the completion of the professional development module. Each board of education and charter school or nonpublic school governing authority must retain the original signed certification on the PPE form to attest to the qualification of the licensed physician, APN, or PA to perform the PPE.
- If a student's participation is NOT approved, the school district will provide a written notification to the parent/guardian, signed by the school physician of the disapproval reason(s).

In general terms, clothing should cover the torso and legs to the mid-thigh. Examples of clothing that would be considered unacceptable in a school setting include but are not limited to halter tops, tube tops, tank tops, bare midriff tops, bathing suits, short skirts or short shorts, baggy/sagging pants (pants must not fall below waist), wallet chains, and any clothing advertising drugs, weapons, alcohol, tobacco, vulgarities, or violence. Outdoor clothing, such as coats, jackets, and hats are encouraged during the appropriate seasons since students may spend part of their day outside. Unless otherwise directed, students may not wear hats or hoods in the building.
Absences
If your child is not going to attend school, please contact Mrs. McCarthy at 201-664-1475 ext. 2103 or McCarthy@nvnet.org.
In an effort to minimize the potential spread of illness at school, please keep your child home if he/she:
- has a fever. Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school.
- is nauseous or is vomiting.
- has diarrhea.
Picture Day!
The CDW Picture Day will be on Friday, October 18th. All students will take an individual photo that day, whether a package is purchased or not. There will be retakes on Wednesday, October 30th.
We are using the same company we used last year; however, photos are unable to be purchased in advance. All parents will receive an email from Image Art Studios 5-7 days after photos have been taken. In the email you will receive a link to a private photo gallery for your child and will be able to order photos there!
*Grade 8 students: This will be the picture that is used for the 2025 Yearbook.
Lunch at CDW
Students should either bring their lunch from home each day, or parents may order through one of the approved vendors for delivery to CDW. If you order lunch from an approved vendor for delivery, please make sure the vendor knows your child's first and last name and grade level. This will help to ensure your child receives his/her lunch on time. At times, we understand that a parent/guardian may need to drop off lunch at school. All lunches need to be placed on the table with the green tablecloth in the vestibule.
