NMSHS PANTHER POST
AUGUST 30, 2024
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Mr. Goodrich
Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,
This coming weekend is Labor Day Weekend; there will be no school on Monday 8/2. When students return to school on Tuesday, September 3, it will be a Blue-Day (1,3,5,7). Then we will be Gold (on the late start Wednesday), Blue, then Gold to finish out the week.
This weekend I will be in Dallas visiting my 91 year old father-in-law. He is receiving an award for volunteering in the community. Get this, he plays in 3 different bands (he’s a trombonist), is the president of one of the bands, volunteers at the police station once a week, delivers meals on wheels, is an Ambassador at DFW airport on Saturdays and helps teach citizenship to ESL adults at his church. He is my hero, and he is receiving the Hero Award for Richardson, Texas.
While I wanted to toot Sandy Lauder’s horn, I also want to encourage volunteerism here at Nederland Middle-Senior High School. We could use help in the front office, academic tutoring support for our students, help in our library, and with our athletic teams. If you are interested please contact Aimee Tomlinson and she will help you navigate the process to be a volunteer in BVSD.
Have a great three-day weekend!

Free & Reduced Price Program Applications
Although school meals are free, we strongly encourage eligible families to fill out the Free and Reduced Price School Meal application; doing so might qualify your family for reduced fees and impact funding for your school. If your family received an email with a F&R notification letter for the 2024-25 school year through DirectCert, you must fill out the sharing form linked within the letter to share your status with your school to receive benefits.
If you have not received a notification letter and your household income is within the guidelines to qualify (found on right side of FRL webpage), fill out the Free & Reduced Price School Meal application found in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal of Infinite Campus under More > Meal Benefits. More program info can be found on our site. If you have questions, please contact Lola Campos-Herzfeld at dolores.campos-herzf@bvsd.org.
