Back to School Night 2022-2023- Th, August 25th from 5-6:30pm
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
It's hard to believe that next week is already the end of our 21-22 school year! Our students have worked incredibly hard this year to master new skills, make connections between content areas, grow friendships, take risks trying new things, particpate in co-curricular activities, and the list goes on! We could not be prouder of them for their investment in themselves and their goals. We look forward to celebrating the end of the school year and the student's hard work next week with them!
This year would not have been a success without all of our families' support and dedication. On behalf of the Muskego Lakes staff and us, we want to thank you for the endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, donating, and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school. We are beyond grateful for this community and all who are part of our school!
With Love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Wednesday, June 8th:
We will do a practice 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony from 8:15-8:45am on Wednesday, June 8th. Any students that have classes/finals at MHS, we will make sure to review with them.
8th graders will head to Rock N Jump or Bowling on June 8th.
When all students return from Community Day with their grade level on June 8th, we will celebrate our 8th graders with a parade through the school ending with a red carpet walk.
Students should report back to Muskego Lakes at 5pm at the entrance by the band room (door 14).
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will begin at 6pm at Muskego Lakes Middle School. There are no tickets for the event as all are welcome. We ask that you be mindful of how many guests you invite to join you because of limited seating and parking, so we ask that you carpool if possible.
While the event will be open seating, please be mindful that there will be limited seating. (When seats fill, there will be standing room only. Typically 8th graders dress up for the promotion ceremony, but formal attire is not a requirement. Students will walk up and across the stage during the ceremony, and then the 8th Grade Dance will follow the ceremony. So, we ask that families consider the nature of the event and select attire that fits for a middle school event.
Doors open at 5pm and the ceremony will begin promptly at 6pm. Students will need to be dropped off at 5pm at Door 14 to begin lining up for the ceremony.
If a guest needs accessible seating due to health conditions or special needs, please reach out to Mary Amaya, Administrative Assistant to the Principal at mary.amaya@muskegonorway.org.
After the ceremony, there will be time for any guests to take photos with their 8th grader in the gym.
Then, 8th graders will head into the cafeteria for the 8th Grade Dance. The dance will end at 9:30pm so please make sure to have a ride arranged for your child.
Thursday, June 9th
We are requesting students to wear their class tshirt on the last day of school (provided earlier in the week in homerooms).
Students will report to their first hour class to pick up their yearbooks.
Then, they will head outside with their 1st Hour class for a group photo.
Following the class photo, they will head to the cafeteria for a slideshow and breakfast.
Then they will follow the regular schedule for the remainder of the day.
8th Grade Promotion Drop-Off & Parking
Doors open at 5 pm for the ceremony. All 8th-grade students need to be dropped off and enter the building at door 14 (near our band room). After dropping off your students, we ask that you loop back to find a parking spot.
We have three parking lots and will fill one at a time. Once one is completely filled, we will open up the next area for parking. Families may find a place to park in any marked spot in the currently open lot, and enter through the main entrance.
Once both front lots (1&2) are filled, families may enter through the side door near lot 3. Please see the diagram below for details about the parking areas.

Yearbook Signing Expectations
Next week Thursday, students that ordered yearbooks will receive them in their first-hour class. We know how much time our yearbook club has put into making this product and how much our students treasure them. We are reviewing expectations for yearbook signing with students next week, but we ask that you remind your child of the expectations listed below.
Students need to...
- Put their first and last name on the inside cover of your book immediately after they receive it.
- Write positive, appropriate messages and drawings only.
- Not write on or draw over photos.
- Be mindful of how much space is being used. Individuals should not take up an entire page for their name or message. Leave enough room for others.
- Only write a message about you and the yearbook owner (leave others' names out of it).
- Be aware of and know who is signing their yearbook. Students should not let anyone sign their yearbook if they don't know them. Also, owners should stay with their yearbook the entire time.
- Read all messages others write before walking away.
- Report a problem to an adult if anything is written that is inappropriate. Students are responsible for what is in their yearbook, so students must let someone know right away if there is anything written or drawn that should not be there.
Locker Clean Out
Last Day of School Reminders

Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
