Paine Elementary first graders in Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Carlson, and Mrs. Cantrell's classes had such a great time planning, designing, and creating their own leprechaun trap after reading the book "How to Trap a Leprechaun!" Under the direction of Mrs. Anna Walker, fourth grade math teacher and Math Team sponsor, Magnolia Math Team members recently competed in a Perennial Math virtual tournament. According to Mrs. Walker, "5th grade went against 23 teams, and they had some stiff competition! One of the comments that I loved the most was, 'Can we stay in here and do this competition all day long?' I am so proud of how every single student showed their work and stayed focused throughout the competition! When they got a question right, the smiles on their faces were huge."
Mrs. Walker also commented, "Fourth grade went against 32 teams, and they placed 4th! I was impressed by how well the students communicated and worked together. They excelled in all of their math skills." Extra congratulations to Fourth Grade, Team 1. This group of students qualified for the National Championships in which they will participate in May.
