Student Password Updates
Students that have forgotten their passwords should access the recovery account questions in order to reset it. If you reset passwords in the Student Account Manager, the reset password will now be a three-word phrase that will be noted as soon as you change it. Any student that has not reset their password by March 29 will have their password changed by the district.
Project Junkpile
If you have any OLD technology that you are no longer using such as desktop computers, monitors, laptops, tablets, printers, shredders, elmos (document cameras), computer charging carts, calculators, or iPads please bring those items to the library so they can be discarded. If you happen to have an Dell Latitude 5480 or 5490 laptop, those must be returned as well. If that is your only computer, a replacement must be requested.
Chromebook Policies
Any student who does not have a Chromebook mostly likely has a damaged or lost device and has not completed the requirements for a replacement. The replacement policy is as follows:
1st incident (damaged/lost/stolen) device: Student will be provided an affidavit for the parent to sign indicating the device was damaged, lost, or stolen. If stolen, student must also file a report with the campus police officer and get a case number. Once the affidavit is returned, the device will be replaced. Student is not charged, but a note is added in their account.
2nd incident: Student must complete online Chromebook Care course. (They watch a video and take a quiz). Parent must also complete the care course OR sign an affidavit indicating they are aware of the 2nd incident. Student is fined $25 to be paid by the end of the year. Once course is completed and affidavit returned, student will receive a replacement device.
3rd incident: Student must repeat Chromebook care course. Meeting with parent and administrator is requested. Parent must sign form acknowledging status of previous devices. Student is fined additional $50 and may be placed on daily check out.
4th Incident: Meeting with parents and administrator required. Student will have a daily device that must be picked up and returned to the library daily. Student is charged market value of the device.
Chromebook Tips
Chromebook won't power on: Hold the power button and refresh key for about 10 seconds. Release. Hit the power key.
Keys typing wrong symbols: Device needs to be powerwashed.
Asking for an old password: Click on the link that says "forgot your old password" and then on the next link to "proceed anyway"
Stuck in testing App: Power down the computer by holding the power button down for several seconds. (Note: on some Chromebooks, the power button is on the left side and you have to take the case off to push it.)
Chromebook not charging: Make sure you are plugged into a wall outlet rather than the desk chargers. Try plugging into charging port on other side of the Chromebook. If device is still not charging bring charger and Chromebook to the library for troubleshooting.
Student cannot access Google document in Canvas course: Click on Google Drive in the left menu and uninstall, then reinstall Google Drive.
Student gets message they are not authorized to use this device when logging into Chromebook: Power down Chromebook. Teacher should go into the Student Account Manger and reset the student's password. Have student login again.
Student forgot their password: Have student click on link underneath the Class Link sign-in that says "Help I forgot my Password". After answering their recovery questions, they will be able to reset their password. If that doesn't work, teacher can reset it in the Student Account Manager.
