SPRING CONFERENCES
Spring Conferences will be held April 11 & 12. These are non-school days. Please be on the lookout for conference forms being sent home from your child's teacher. These forms will let you know if your child requires a conference or if it is optional. Sign and return the form as soon as possible. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns regarding conferences.
PICK UP/DROP OFF REMINDER
Please remember to use caution while driving through the school parking lots and follow the posted speed limit to help ensure the safety of our students. Friendly reminder- middle school students are still in session in the afternoons, so please drive cautiously through their school. Thank you!

New Volunteer Training Requirement
All parents and volunteers, in order for you to work in or around our buildings, you must clear an ODE and CSD background check and complete mandatory training. If you have only completed one of the online training modules, please email hr@colton.k12.or.us to receive the full set. This is a new requirement. If you have any questions, please call the office at (503)824-3536. Thank you for for your support of keeping Colton School District safe!

Science - Technology - Engineering - Math in the Library
4th and 5th Grade: S.T.E.M. Fair Projects
Our 4th and 5th grade students are beginning to prepare for our school STEM Fair. Project proposals were due March 21st. Once approved, students can begin their projects, research, experiments and/or investigations. Click HERE for a copy of the packet.
S.T.E.M. Fun in 2nd and 3rd Grade
Our 2nd and 3rd grade students are learning it's important to look at "trustworthy" websites to get accurate information for research. We explored the Gale in Context: Elementary resource. Find it here if interested (scroll down to the "Research" globe image).
S.T.E.M. Fun in Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Our Kindergartners and 1st grade students have been learning block coding and programming skills. They are programming in code.org. Now that students know how to LOOP and repeat commands, they will be learning how to use EVENTS in block coding throughout March.

Join PTA: We can use your hand with a few things coming up, get plugged in on Remind to find out the latest!
PTA will be hosting the annual community Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday March 30th at 10AM.
We will have popcorn and water for sale, Jr Viking Baseball will be there taking custom water bottle & hanging basket orders, and the Viking Youth Basketball program will be selling Papa Murphy Pizza for $3 by the slice.
You can bring your cans and bottles to drop off as well- all can and bottle money goes directly back to the PTA to fund these events.
