The Riverwalk Roar: March, 9nd 2025
A Note from Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that the time change didn’t leave you too exhausted. Hopefully, you and your family were able to enjoy the beautiful weather on Saturday. I had the privilege of starting my weekend at the Riverwalk Academy Lions’ 5K and Fun Run, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my morning. The families and staff who participated were met with perfect running conditions, and it was inspiring to see so many students, parents, and teachers coming together to promote a healthy lifestyle while supporting our athletic programs.
As we begin another week, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible teachers we have at Riverwalk Academy. One of the things that impresses me most is their ability to connect with students. I know that not every student will feel equally connected to every teacher, but what matters most is that each student has at least one teacher they feel truly seen and supported by.
Earlier this week, I received an email from a parent expressing frustration, saying, “I’ve spoken with other parents, and we all feel this way about this teacher.” Less than an hour later, we received a nomination for our Staff Member of the Month—praising that very same teacher. The nomination read, “... is truly an exceptional teacher. The way she treats her students with kindness and respect is nothing short of remarkable.”
I love moments like this because they highlight the diverse and meaningful connections our teachers build with students. Every teacher brings unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences to our school, and together, they create an environment where every student can find their place.
Speaking of amazing educators, this past Friday, we had the honor of surprising three outstanding teachers as we crowned them our 2025 Teachers of the Year! You’ll be hearing more about them this week, but please join me in congratulating:
Ms. Pack (5th grade) – Elementary Teacher of the Year
Ms. Flynn (6th grade) – Middle School Teacher of the Year
Ms. George (High School Science) – High School Teacher of the Year
These three, along with all of our nominated teachers [Ms. Puckett (1st grade), Ms. Benderson (7th grade), Ms. Oates (middle school special education), and Ms. Johnston (high school math)] are incredibly deserving of this recognition. We are truly fortunate to have such dedicated and talented educators at Riverwalk Academy.
Lions, thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to educate and support your child. It’s a responsibility we never take for granted, and we are incredibly grateful for your partnership.
In Pride and Purpose,
~Dr. Compton

2025 Teacher of the Year Recipients
We are so honored to have such incredible team members as a part of our Pride. Each of these ladies are so very deserving of this award and it is the pleasure of Riverwalk Academy to serve along side of such amazing and gifted educators.
March Staff Members of the Month!
We would like to give a HUGE shout out to our March Staff Members of the Month. These 3 inspirational individuals are well deserving of the accolade. They go above and beyond and give selflessly to our students, their families, and their fellow staff members. Thank you for doing what you do and congratulations!
